Re: F sharp or G flat ? how to know ?
Message:In music theory, normally a sharp resolves (moves) upwards, and a flat resolves (moves) down. For example, an F sharp would usually move upwards to a G, or some other higher note. And a G flat would move downwards to an F, or other lower note. Finale will place the accidentals according to the key signature. But if you notate a non-harmonic note (like an F sharp in the key of C), you must place that accidental manually yourself. I would highly recommend that you should take a basic course in music theory, so then you will learn the rules. Basically, Finale is an intuitive program, as long as the composer has a good working knowledge of music theory himself. But Finale cannot guess what you mean all the time when you enter notes.
