Re: Spilt single track into to staves from standard midi file
Message: I may be able to give a little help here, as well as point out another POSSIBLE solution that I don't really know that much about. I may have the wrong picture, but this sounds like a "split-point" problem to me, and the "NoteMover" tool can help you with it. If the problem is that all your bass clef notes are in the treble clef (with gobs of ledger lines messing up the appearance) you can use the NoteMover tool to move Selected notes OUT of the treble clef and INTO the bass clef. The icon for NoteMover is a covered wagon with a pair of beamed eighth-notes painted on its side. You can also invoke it from the Tools--AdvancedTools Menu. Once the icon is highlighted and "NoteMover" has appeared in the main MenuBar, open the NoteMover Menu. There are seven clickboxes to choose from and I don't understand ALL of them, but the one that I use almost all the time is "Delete after Merge". (its the 4th one down in my Finale2002 program) Then click any treble clef measure and handle-checkboxes will appear on all the notes in that measure. ContolClick or DragClick the handles of the notes you WANT to move so the desired handles are darkened, and then drag them down to the bass clef. If things work correctly they will now appear in the base clef (Merge) and disappear from the treble clef (Delete After Merge)This may be what you want......hope so, BUT its a measure by measure process and a bit tedious if you have a 128 measure piece. You can speed it up a bit by making your measures longer before all the moving and then changing them back to the original lengths after the moves. So if its in 4/4 change it to (for example) 32/4 with the TimeSignature tool and then in the MassMover menu, after selecting the entire piece, tell it to " Rebar Music". Now when you use the NoteMover you'll be able to move in one measure all the notes that would have been in 8 measures. After you get the whole piece fixed, change the time signature back to the original, SelectAll with the MassMover tool, and RebarMusic once more. What I just described works for me, if I understand your problem correctly. I suspect the "Import Midi File Options" dialogue box has a way of doing this in one fell swoop, but I haven't worked with it enough to tell you how to use it. Hope it helps, Bob
