Message:I think I was lucky. By dumb luck I ended up buying a MIDI/USB converter that has the little lights on it. when data is flowing in or out, they flash, which makes it easy to tell if I'm sending or receiving. I don't use my MIDI keybord with any other application other than Finale so, I don't know any other way to test it other than "activity lights". My owner's manual has a trouble shooting guide as well for send/receive data errors. I've never had to use it, though.
