Hi all
I was adding a bunch of text indications to what I thought was an individual part (a rhythm chart), but they appeared in the whole score, and thus, all other parts too.
Is there a way to change an entry made on the text tool to apply only to a single part in a score?
Thanks
Geoff

possible to scale multiple notes/measures at once?
Hi all, I frequently make lead sheets, and in addition to the vocal melody and chords, I like to include key hits, passages or other things, usually in other layers. Like this: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53133405499_36bc7f724d.jpg As you can see I like making the non-vocal lines smaller to ...

Re: Spanish Lyrics word ties
Dredging up an old topic here after a google; i'm trying to do the same as the OP. I can insert the elision character either via text->insert symbol, or the keyboard shortcut, but the elision appears *above* the bottom of the characters, like the asterisk I added to above, rather than below the char...

Aaaand...fixed size in the text menu when editing lyrics. I should have looked before asking, but here it is in case someone else searches for this.

resize notes but not lyrics
I'm sure there's a way... Often in my lead sheets I include non-lead bits when there's space in the chart, like backup vocal bits, horn lines, etc. Normally I resize these notes to about 70% to indicate that they're not part of the main melodic part. If it's a backup vocal part, finale also shrinks ...

adjust syllables moves note spacing in v27
title says it all - I upgraded from v25, but never had this issue before. I'm often trying to cram a lot of music onto fewer pages to minimize page turns, and for lead sheets this means lots of syllable adjusting. When I use the lyric -> adjust syllables and grab a handle and move it via the arrow k...

Re: Lyric Auto Adjust?
Ah, it's in the Music Spacing area of the document options. Avoid collisions "lyrics" wasn't checked. But it's also not retroactive, I had to paste into a new document to see the adjusted locations.

Lyric Auto Adjust?
So after upgrading to v27, I notice that typing in lyrics no longer automatically adjusts the note positioning to avoid lyric collisions: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51739504366_2b2b926340.jpg What's the setting I need to adjust? Gotta be in the lyric menu I suppose, but I couldn't find it! ...

Ah, good idea! I was in the middle of changing all the suffixed via the chord -> change suffix menu and trying to figure out how to exclude the parenthesis haha

Re: v27 chord suffixes
relatedly, I'm making a few templates for myself, and I can't seem to get the chord fonts to stick. I took the default handwritten template, saved as default (broadway), then changed all the fonts in the document option to broadway, incl chord symbol, chord suffix, and alterations. When I type a cho...

Re: v27 chord suffixes
That looks promising.... So I tried loading the handwritten copyist chord extension library, and it didn't seem to have and additional chord suffixes (297 total choices before and after loading the library, and it still doesn't recognize "m7" for example.) Looks like I'll have to make my own again o...

Re: v27 chord suffixes
Thanks Peter, that's a quick way to get where I want. I did notice, though, that when using the engraved fonts, finale seems to recognize many of the chord suffixes i commonly use (like plain "m" or even "-" for minor, it has the delta for maj7, etc. But these dont exist in the Handwritten font, at ...

v27 chord suffixes
Hi all, have been happy with finale v25 for a while now. I was under the impression that v26 upgraded many of the chord suffixes that are commonly used in handwritten jazz charts: the delta or delta7 for maj7, a simple m or m7 for minor or minor7, etc. I was disappointed after purchasing and install...

Latin accents in finale copyist font
Love the finale copyist font, very readable, i do all my charts in it now. How do i get latin letters to appear properly. I found this page that shows the key shortcuts at the bottom for é, ñ, etc. but when I input them in the lyrics entry too, the ñ turns into a ½ symbol and the é into a strange li...

Re: Hide ledger lines on single layer
Thanks guys! Not sure where the JW change plugin is, but Peter's method worked great! Never knew that advanced menu even existed. I'm aware I could easily add extra staves, but I'm after as few page turns as possible, and a single chart for the whole band :-) (I'm on v25, have updated my profile... ...

Hide ledger lines on single layer
Hi all - I assume this is possible - can I hide ledger lines only on a single layer? I'd like to keep them on layer 1 and hide them on layer 2. I make a lot of lead sheets with "extra" stuff like rhythm notes above/below the staff etc. Sometimes I'd like to hide the ledger lines for the extra stuff ...

adjusting location of top staff on second and further pages
Hi all, In page layout tool, I'm trying to figure out what handle I can grab to drag the top staff down the page a bit. For the second and further staves, there's a handle on the right on the top of each staff that I can drag, but nothing for the top staff. The one on the upper left doesn't work bec...
