Yes, the Staggard Barlines is where I was headed. But getting there from my already notated 4/4 document will be as you say. . . time consuming. I don't see a good/easy way to get there from an already somewhat completed score.

It still requires some work, but with the right settings, the work will be limited. However, I don't know your exact requirements, so I can't predict whether this workaround will be usable for you. I maintained the 1 line staff to make it easier, so the 0 line staff idea was bad. It's not that hard if you set up the line properties correctly.

I totally agree with you as I haven't figured it out for quite some time. Odd, I just found one that is fine. Figures after I (finally) post. But no idea why it's fine and no idea how to fix the others (I'll copy the measure that works perhaps, and edit).

A pause over a quarter rest on a 1 line staff. I touch it, and it moves up to where I expect. I look away and it's back on top of the rest. How to fix without screwing anything else up?
