Re: Grace notes cluttered in parts
Yes, this is a voiced part. I tried all the options in the Document options / Music spacing / grace note spacing. It doesn't affect the part. So, it's a known problem with voiced parts? In that case I'll file a technical support request with MakeMusic. Let's see what solution they come-up with... Th...

Grace notes cluttered in parts
I am writing an orchestral score. Got some pretty busy pages where grace notes got cluttered, running into the accidentals of the main note, or each-other's accidentals. It got cleared-up once I refreshed music spacing (note spacing) and updated layout. But it didn't affect the parts! Music spacing ...

Re: Multimeasure rest metatool?
Oh, wow! It worked this time! I thought I did the exact same thing, but I must've done something wrong the first time:) Thank you once again, Peter! You always save the day :D But I still don't get it: How does Apple know you want Finale to create a multimeasure rest when you simply enter the comman...

htoker, Indeed I meant the System Preferences. Path (but on your system the items may be called differently): System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts When you are in the App Shortcuts, click the + button to create a new keyboard shortcut. Re: Multimeasure rest metatool?
You can also use Mac OS Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts to create your own custom keyboard shortcuts in Finale - at least to commands that are displayed in a menu or sub-menu Like e. g. Edit menu > Multimeasure Rests > … I don't understand what you mean. I don't see a 'keyboard' menu under Final...

Re: Broken beam tool not working in parts
I AM trying to keep it to the left:D It was on the right before. I turned it left in the score so it pears-up with the dotted rhythm. It just insists on remaining to the right in parts view.

Multimeasure rest metatool?
What's the metatool / keyboard shortcut for creating and breaking a multimeasure rest? Finale manuals talk about such a metatool, but don't mention what it is.I tried creating one by clicking shift+M in selection tool mood, but nothing happened.

Re: Broken beam tool not working in parts
Thank you Michelp,
I tried it. It works momentarily, but it goes back to the old stubborn way once I turn 'speficy voicing' back on. Maybe I'll do an update to V27. We'll see what the Make Music guys say...

Re: Broken beam tool not working in parts
I tried deleting the hidden rest, it didn't help. I just installed JW Plugin Change, upon your suggestion. But it doesn't work at that spot. Yes, this is an oboe 1 part from a staff that has two layers broken-down into two parts (Layer 1: oboe 1, Layer 2: oboe 2). Voicing specified as: Oboe 1 gets a...

Broken beam tool not working in parts
I am writing an orchestral score. I used the broken beam tool to switch the direction of a 16th note beam in an oboe part. But the change didn't effect the part. When I try to do it in the part, nothing happens. The boxes of the tool seem obsolete there. I click once, nothing happens. I click again,...

Re: How do cue notes work?
Is there a metatool for applying the Force Hide Staff (Collapse) staff style to ''current part/score'' only?
Q makes it go away in both score and part. I need it gone only in the part (and sometimes only in the score).
Or, is there a way to program a metatool with such a specific angle to it?

Dragging barlines and having them stay there?
Finale lets us click and drag barlines right and left. You need that sometimes, because Finale's ways of adjusting spacing might not fit your needs. But, every time I make such an adjustment and toggle between parts; it goes away when I come back! Is there a way to keep that adjustment permanent? I ...

How do cue notes work?
This is what I understand from cue notes: in an ensemble/orchestral piece, when some instruments have been resting for a long time, you write a few notes from another instrument into their part, so they can listen to it, to double-check their counting, and so they can enter in the right time after a...

MIDI playing wrong sounds (Whistle instead of snare)
I got a big orchestral score that has a drum kit part in it. All my snare drums sound like whistles! I messed-around with the Notation Style settings in the score manager, but that messed-up my notation. That dialog box seems like a place where you assign specific sounds to specific notes on the sta...

Re: How to create multimeasures rests out of bars that have entries?
My approach for Flute 1 and Flute 2 (say) is to write separate staves for each part... This is much more straight-forward and less time-consuming in the end than starting with a single staff and then trying to tease it apart, which as you're finding can be problematic. FWIW some of us, when ready w...

Re: How to create multimeasures rests out of bars that have entries?
My approach for Flute 1 and Flute 2 (say) is to write separate staves for each part, which contain exactly what you want in the part, and make the parts from those. Then for the conductor's score, combine the two flute staves into a third staff using Finale's "implode" or the JW Staff Polyphony plu...

Re: How to create multimeasures rests out of bars that have entries?
Thank you so much, Peter! But I know -I seem to remember- there's gotta be another, more direct way. One could even put notes in there, rather than a simple fake or real whole note rest, then make Finale perceive and treat the measure as empty (by making multimeasure rests over it). Am I wrong? Perh...

How to create multimeasures rests out of bars that have entries?
I am creating an orchestral score where flute and flute 2 share the same staff on the score. Flute 1 is layer 1, Flute 2 is layer 2. So, when they play in unison, I got both layers in. Conductor sees stems going both ways. The name of that staff (instrument, as far as the score manager is concerned)...

The already existing pages will not change until you Redefine Pages (Page Layout Tool, Page Layout ...
