Deleted notes still display
F26, when I delete a note on the screen it remains on display until I scroll the screen up or down. Sounds minor, I know, but if I am working quickly I think I did not delete it and hit the Delete key again, only to find I have deleted too many notes. A similar effect is apparent when I edit lyrics....

Re: How did I do this?
Looks like "avoid margin collisions" is turned off, or "space between systems" is negative. But who knows? Finale gives you enough rope to hang yourself. It is checked. I did a Page Layout / Redefine pages / All pages for each part and the issue went away. What will happen if I edit the score and r...

How did I do this?
Suppose I wanted to print the first two pages of a part "normally" but on the last page, squish all the systems together with no space between them? I did a File / Extract Parts. A Doc / Manage Parts / Part Creation Preferences / (.) Copy spacing from Score. And probably countless other things. Why ...

Re: View gpes tp top staff on playback
Have you tried Studio View? There the position stays when playback begins. You also have the option of changing settings (Mute, Solo, Volume) on the fly. Zuill P.S.: I guess Spacebar-Click doesn't allow on the fly changes, as clicking over on the mixer controls stops playback. However, using the Pl...

View goes to top staff on playback
I have a piece with seven or eight instruments. The strings are at the bottom of the page. No problem. If I am editing the bass or cello I would like to hear just that instrument. However, when I hit shift space left click the screen focus moves to the flute at the top. I have enlarged the view with...

Double bass II quieter than DB I
A duet for two double basses, (set up as Strings, double bass), The playback for the DB II is about 8dB quieter than DB I, as measured on my cell phone decibel-o-meter app. I have fiddled [sic] with the Window/ScoreManager/Instrument List settings to no avail. I do not want to mess with the various ...

The gnomes of MakeMusic responded to my service request. I followed their advice and the Error 7 went away. Raputtak's WIBNI list
WIBNI Wouldn't It Be Nice If: Topics were grouped intuitively. For example: Measure numbers I want to show measure numbers. I click the measure tools thingy. Oh, all the options are greyed out. I have to go to Staff Attributes and set Measure numbers under Items To Display. Then there is Edit Measur...

Re: Page number in parts
I can't figure out how to get page numbers to appear in my parts. I added page numbers to the score but they don't show in the parts. Probably a simple solution but I can't figure it out. Thanks! "added page numbers to the score" I don't know how you did that - mine printed by default, I guess. How...

Re: The Case of The Missing Violin
You can rename it. If you haven't done any formatting of your parts, you can instead click Generate Parts, which will make all new parts and also solve your multimeasure rest problems. But any tweaking you've done to the parts will be lost. OK. That appears to fix No. 3. Still no joy on No. 1. the ...

Re: Forum reorganization
May I suggest a separate thread for printing issues? They seems to be endemic, complex, and hard to correct. After all is said and done, the primary purpose of Finale is to produce printed sheets that people can play from. (The secondary purpose is to create audio files, but that seems to be relativ...

After the install.
[Edit}
And again this morning. No change.
I shall try to re-install F26. Although this goes under the heading of "doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result".

Well. I was having trouble with Finale 25 (See Missing Violin) so I after browsing this Forum looking for, but not finding, similar issues, I decided to upgrade to Finale 26. Re: The Case of The Missing Violin
OK. Progress - of a sort.
Re Number 2. In the Flute staff, I selected some contiguous measures, then Edit/Multimeasure Reste/Create for Parts/score.
This eliminated the third page and put in the multimeasure rests everywhere - not just where I selected.

The Case of The Missing Violin
I have a multi-part small orchestra piece, some woods, brass, strings, etc. The director asked me to print off all the parts separately to assign to the players. Easy-peasy, right? Wrong! This triggered a number of issues I am struggling with. 1. Flute part will not print the title page. I know, I h...

Re: Playback ignores expression values
Usually I can find the cause of this kind of behavior. So far, I can't pin it down. However, there is a workaround that will get you by, I think. Edit the Score List 1, which is the one used for the Tempo category. Check all the staves for Parts in the definition, and now the tempos should work. Si...
