Re: The repeat sign is ignored the second time it is encount
I went back to one of my pieces and set it as you suggested, and the playback ignored the repeat the second time, just as it always does. I tried different settings on the window you are discussing, assuming I must be just missing something. Nope. It always ignores the repeat the send time through. ...

Re: The repeat sign is ignored the second time it is encount
Yes, that would have been my assumption too. It does not work that way with my finale, and it does not work that way with any of the editions of finale I have had. I have tried that setting, and it ignores the repeat.

The repeat sign is ignored the second time it is encountered
It's elementary to set up a simple repeat. However, in actual practice, the repeat should always be followed, no matter how many times the music comes to it. The convention of ignoring the repeat if it has been encountered before is just an informal convention. In any case, I want to be able to have...

Finale destroys dotted notes
Ok, that might be over-stating it, but when I write a note, that is the note I write, and it is time consuming to have to go back and manually correct all my notations every time Finale does any kind of editing. Re: playing only on repeat -- possible???
Finale is a WOW very robust program. You can do anything, it seems.
But sometimes you have to really dig to figure out how to do it.
Thanks again for that simple work-around. I've used it about ten times just today!

Re: playing only on repeat -- possible???
Hi, Peter! Thanks, that works very well, and is very easy to set up. Defined the expressions (took me a couple minutes to discover how you did it, but then it was quite simple) and then just plopped them down in each section, and the whole thing works flawlessly. And don't have to rewrite the music....

playing only on repeat -- possible???
I want to avoid writing out music a second time when in the repeat the only difference is that one part is tacet the first time and plays the second time. Can I do this? I don't see anything that seems relevant. I have four parts, three of which play the first time, and they all play the second time...
