I was able to get the measure numbers boxed on each measure. Then for all the measures I did not need, I hid them. I'm sure there's an easier way, but it worked and you put me in the right track so thank you
As for the rehearsal markings, I'll have to try that method in the future.

Re: Measure Numbering
OK, well, I was able to get a measure number done, but that's it. I am also pretty sure I did it wrong. The first image below shows what my setup page looked like and the second image is how it came out. However, I have several other measure numbers to add and they are not at regular intervals. I ha...

Re: Measure Numbering
I am getting nothing but then when I click on measures / show measure numbers, I get just measure 5 with no square around it even though I checked that off. And it's only above the soprano. I need them above the piano part too . It's an SATB with piano piece. I will be away until Monday when I can s...

Measure Numbering
OK, this is driving me crazy. I have been trying for a few hours to get this right. I feel like I am following the directions on the "how to" page [ https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2014Win/Content/Finale/Measure_numbers.htm#Creating_measure_numbers ] But I get almost nothing. I want to put...

Coda Tempo
So, I have all of the notation entered for my current piece. It starts out in 6/8 at Dotted Quarter = 70 during the middle, it switches to 4/4 at Quarter = 70. There is a DS al coda which goes back to measure 5 in the section in 6/8 During playback, Finale does not revert to the original tempo. I am...

Re: Two Coda Questions
Well, remember, the measure on the paper before the coda is in 4/4 then it hits a DS which is in 6/8. The last measure that is PLAYED before the coda is in 6/8.
I will try to adjust the measures as you suggest. Thanks

Two Coda Questions
Ok, so I made my coda. My piece starts in 6/8 then switches to 4/4 when it goes to the DS, it's back to 6/8 and the coda is in 6/8 When I did the coda setup, it automatically made the coda in 4/4 because the previous measure (the DC al coda) was in 4/4. I had to manually add the 6/8 measure to the c...

unfortunately, it's not budging. I tried to click, double click, click and hold . . . all of the combinations. It won't move.

How to hide rest or move it
So, I am now putting my next piece from hand-written to Finale. In my piano part, there is a measure where I have a whole note entering on beat 1 and a dotted half on beat 2. I was able to put them in using layers (and changing the stem of the dotted half), but am I supposed to leave the quarter res...

Re: Lyrics Question
Thanks Mike. Actually one point I did not know.
My college did not offer score reading or arranging . . . . some BA in music eh?
I finished the song with no hiccups. I will correct the "oo" where it is as you point out!
Thanks

Re: Lyrics Question
I am moving alone quite nicely with my lyrics. It's so much easier now that I sorta understand how to do it!!! However, this is the tricky part. It's the bridge. The males start with Oo then join the Alto on the word "thin" a measure later. Should I put the "oo" below the staff to make it clear that...

Re: Lyrics Question
Ok, so I entered the first verse. All went fine. Then I went to the lyrics window and changed it to verse 2. When I entered the second verse underneath the first, when it got to the 2nd ending, it did not skip to the second ending. So any ideas to help me learn? Mike, appreciate the offer. If it com...

Re: Lyrics Question
Honestly, this was the first piece I did in Finale and had no idea what I was going. I just erased all the lyrics and will start from scratch tomorrow. However, I really don't know how to do different verses. I will have to use the "how to" website thingie very closely. I only work on songs when I'm...

I was going to ask about the hyphens. They are missing throughout the entire piece. Even in the parts where I used the lyrics tool.

Re: Lyrics Question
I have a strong feeling this one is wrong. This song is the first one of mine that I transferred from handwritten to Finale a few months ago. I didn't really know how to use the lyrics function (and still have trouble). The lyrics are a mishmash of the lyrics function and the text function. I might ...

Lyrics Question
At the end of a piece I am touching up, at the end, the altos and males sing slightly different words than the Soprano. Do I have it correct?
Be prepared for my measure number questions to follow! Thanks

Re: Stem Direction
I will fix that slur. Thanks
The problem is the voicings! The rest of the piece is fine, but those two measures are killing me! However, this probably is not the forum for that!
Thanks for everything. I'm sure I'll be back with questions on my next piece

Re: Stem Direction
I made this arrangement back in 2011 using only a guitar. For some reason, it all worked out quite well except for the line "favorite work of art."
I have changed that measure dozens of times (when probably the first try was fine). Any suggestions?

Re: Stem Direction
Mike, thank you for the suggestion. I have done lyrics that way in the past. I'm not sure what made me decide to do them with parenthesis this time. I made the chance also later in the arrangement for "stay little valentine stay" as you can see below. The sample you provided me was very useful. - Tony

Re: Stem Direction
OK, so this is what I got done today. I can only work on these at work (Gotta love that) since I don't have a computer at home.
I think the slurs look better. Tomorrow I will put the measure numbers in and it should be done.

Re: Stem Direction
It is an a capellla arrangement of My Funny Valentine meant for an above- average high school vocal jazz group. The soprano gets a bit high and the alto gets a bit low The sad part is that I have a BA in music and was a HS choral director for a short time. I should know the slur rules better. Howeve...

Re: Stem Direction
You are all awesome. I've been using Finale for quite a while and taking forever to figure out stuff. I have a bunch of choral pieces complete, but they each took me a while.
I'm still tricky with entering lyrics, but with each now one I get a little better.
