Re: Should I upgrade to 26?
Yes, that is where I saw it. I'd like to catch the sale, but not having the number keypad work for rests would send me over the edge.

Should I upgrade to 26?
I have Finale 25, Windows 10. It seems to be working fine. There is an upgrade sale going on, but I don't want to fix what isn't broken. I'm especially concerned about some reports that the speedy entry/using the number pad may have changed. Is this true, or are there any other changes that I should...

Re: Change Symbol Font
If you are writing a test in a word processor like "Word" and Finale has been installed on the same computer, Petrucci Font is automatically installed as a font option, just like "Comic Sans" . If you go to the test and type "Use the quarter note (in arial) the insert a q in Petrucci font you will b...

Re: Difficulty generating parts
I've been with Finale since it came on large floppy floppy discs. … I've just never worked with xml before. Is there a site or search on the manual that is recommended to get up to speed on known issues with importing/exporting these files? I'm up for learning. Thanks again, by the way, parts are ex...

Re: Difficulty generating parts
Thank you! It seems to be working fine for my purposes. Do you think the file issues were because of the import/export as xml files? I've not done that frequently before but may need to again. Again, thank you!

Difficulty generating parts
Hi there, I'm using Finale 25 on Windows 10. I've done a string quartet arrangement of a Bach piece, had a friend who is a string player (& uses Sibelius) look it over for me and add bowings. She sent it back as an xml file, and it opened after a little coaxing with no big issues -- note wise at lea...

Re: annoying music on quick start videos
I'm glad I'm not alone in being annoyed, thanks for the comments. I wouldn't switch from Finale, but sense the company is less and less a music company than a software company. I wonder if they created a video to show people how to format a document in a word processing program they would use spoken...

annoying music on quick start videos
Hello, I guess this isn't a question, just a complaint. I decided to go back and watch the quick start videos and go through the tutorials because I've used Finale for a long time, but use it sporadically, and thought there were probably some new aspects I wasn't taking advantage of. I cannot follow...

Re: cross staff lyrics (i.e. middle c position piano music)
Thank you all. I think the two-lyric, adjusting the baseline to accommodate works the easiest. I've also just finished a short piece by attaching lyrics to a hidden layer (kind of awkward but it works well) I wasn't looking to eliminate rests entirely (although in some instances that would be a good...

cross staff lyrics (i.e. middle c position piano music)
Hello, I've asked this before -- and had and answer that worked-- but it was on the old forum and I cannot find it. I'm doing quite a bit of arranging for five finger piano in middle C position. That means lyrics that coordinate with a melody that shifts between treble and bass clef. I don't want to...

Re: Exporting Score and Parts into 1 PDF file
When you export the parts you will have five files. I usually have to adjust the layout of the part files (so they fit on one or two pages for example). After the score and all parts look the way I want them to, I use the score merger to recombine into one “score and parts” file. You can then save t...

Can you create a video file from a scrolling playback?
Hello, I'm doing some self publishing and it has been suggested that I create video to go along with the compositions. I've seen some that look like they are a capture of a scrolling playback of a Finale score. Is this possible and if so, what is the easiest way to do it? I'm using Finale 25, PC not...

You can insert a symbol in the word, (in the text menu) if you can find a symbol that you want to use or you can insert a 'hard' hyphen.

Staff Collision in Page View
Hello there, I've just returned to Finale after not having time to use it for months and I feel like I've forgotten everything. I'm finishing a (longish) choral piece and have been working in scroll view. When I go to page view my Sop. and Alto lines are on top of each other. I can drag them apart o...

Re: Donating Finale Scores
Have you looked into the Petrucci Library at IMSLP.com (I think that is the correct address) ? Also Sheet Music Plus has a SMP Press going where you can post and sell arrangements and original pieces. I don't know about uploading actual .mus or .musx files, probably need to save as PDF in those cases.

Re: Who's here?
I'm here and very happy to find this. I am a sporadic Finale user and the forum has saved me starting from scratch so many times I cannot count. I think I started using finale in 87, is that possible? I have '25' now. In college I was handed pen and ink in the first composition class...true story. T...
