I've used the Guitar Slide, in Smart Shapes.
But it's fussy.
I'd love to know if there are other slides and scoops available for playback.

Re: Symbol Notation
Well, you learn something every day! I've never encountered this half moon as a double scoop notation before, but I see that M.G. is right! But I would notate it as 2 eighths, 2nd one tied to a quarter. ( For a Half Note ). Or 2 eighths for a quarter. To me. a Double-Inflection needs 2 notes. But I ...

Re: Symbol Notation
I've seen that, ( start on, go flat, come back up) notated as 2 notes, 2 half moons.
One half moon has been a scoop since at least 1963, when I started writing big band charts.
I've studied lots of scores.

To me, a Scoop is a Half-Moon shape over the note.

Re: Scoop articulation...can't get placement
I use Articulation #45 for Scoops.
It looks huge in the Selection Window, but looks fine on score and parts.
What you're using looks like a Rip.

Scroll view jumps back and forth all the time
It's annoying and slows me way down.
I've been on F 25 Catalina, and now Ventura.
It also skips back to the beginning a lot.
And scrolling ahead or back is jumpy, keeps going a bit after releasing the mouse.
How can I avoid this?
Does F 27 have the same problem?

Thanks Wiggy!
Err, I mean Mr. Tempi!
Does your moniker mean you have Good Tempo?
Good Time?
( they go together...)
Or are you a Good-Time sort of guy?
Maybe All!
Thanks Again for your reply!

Best version of Finale for Mac Ventura
Hi,
I've been on Finale 25.5.0.259/Catalina.
I just got a used iMac/Ventura/13.6.5.
I just had to re-authorise my F25 on the Ventura machine.
It seems to work, but is there a version of Finale that is specifically suited to Ventura?
TIA!

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
Right, that's what I said. Lower than that I wouldn't write for a Big Band section. But Billy referring to Solo playing encompassing the entire lower range, which is admirable! Rimsky Korsakov has a famous orchestration book, where he lists the Full Ranges of all the various Instruments. But he also...

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
Hi Billy,
I'm referring to voicing chords low in the Trumpet Section.
Solo playing should certainly feature the entire range of the Inst, as you say.
Never saw Thad Jones write for Tpt more than one or two ledger lines below the staff.

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
Very true David. I think Billy May is more into Big Band than Classical, but I don't know ... My experience with Orchestral Players is that, even if you write for Bb Tpt, they play it on C Tpt. Only getting a note out of range, would they switch to Bb. There's a Stravinsky Score we played in the SF ...

Re: TRUMPET Low F# Not Sounding--Gb Too
That's awfully low for a Bb Tpt.
To me that's Trombone territory.
Many Big Band Tpt Players can't really play much below the staff!
I think it would sound mushy to write the Tpts so low.
YMMV.

Re: What am I missing about this program?
I learned way more from actual users, including here! Reading the manual didn't help me much 20 years ago when I was getting started, and I had no previous Computer experience. Didn't know the vocabulary, and randomly trying different things was not working for me. Now that I'm familiar with what I ...

I don't know why they are Orange,
but they do need to centered over the Note/Beat they assigned to.

I use AU Matrix Reverb.
Under Midi Audio/Audio Units Banks and Effects
choose AU Matrix Reverb.
Click on the Pencil to edit.
I move the Wet/Dry Slider to Dry, and choose Room Size.
It sounds good to use Panning too, in the Mixer.

Re: F Cleft for Sax
I don't know any Sax Players (including me...) who read Tenor Clef!
Bass Clef for Bari is doable, tho.
Maybe it's for a Concert Pitch Score.
Seeing Tenor Sax Parts in Bass Clef drives me crazy.
Just one Side-Man's opinion.

Re: Oboe doesn't playback the written notes
Where are yesterday's responses?
The Oboe isn't playing Any Notes, there are no Instruments assigned.
Assign them and it plays fine.
