Glissando Playback in v27
I upgraded to Finale 27 (on Windows). Recently, I wrote a passage where I used the glissando smart shape to connect two notes in a string passage. To my surprise, it does not play back as a glissando the way it used to in earlier versions of Finale. Instead, when two notes are connected with the gli...

Re: Font issues in Finale 27
Thanks so much for the help. Motet, I tried your idea using Document/Category designer/Tempo Marks. When I switched to EngraverTextT, then the notes ended up as boxes, so I went to Finale Maestro Text, with smaller font for both that and the text. That sort of works, but I do see that my older files...

Font issues in Finale 27
Hi, I recently upgraded to Finale version 27. Now, when I create a tempo mark, there is a tremendous amount of space between the lines if I want the metronome marking on a 2nd line. There are some other weird things about the music fonts looking big in some of the menus, but it's these tempo marks t...

Problems saving into the correct directory
I notice that ever since I upgraded to v26, Finale tends to save files into the wrong directory. I pretty much have to always look at my directories from Windows Explorer to check if the file saved where it should be. This was never a problem in Finale 2010. In addition, when opening a file and not ...

Re: Need sound advice transferring files from 2010 to v26
Thanks for your help. I was able to see that the reverb effects in the Aria player affect the whole bank, and interestingly, the volumes from my old file did copy over. The trouble is that the raw instruments themselves are at different levels, so I have to tone down especially the harp a lot lower ...

Need sound advice transferring files from 2010 to v26
Hello, I recent bought Finale v26 (26.2.1.458 on Windows 10). Mostly I've been happy with it, but I'm having real problems with files from the old version. So far, I tried to play back a file that used the built-in instruments for Finale (Garritan); I haven't even tried importing files that use othe...

ritard and accel "al" new tempo
It used to be that if I put a "rit." or "accel." in, and placed a new tempo several bars later, it would gradually change tempo until it got to the new tempo. I've used this zillions of times. However, all of a sudden, it's not working anymore. The ritardando and accel. "overshoot the mark" and go w...

Re: Finale sticks on pre-processing file for Human Playback
Nothing to really help you, but... For years, I had HP turned off, because I was tired of that 10-15 second wait, while HP was loading. However, in F25, it's almost instantaneous, and so I leave it on. Just for fun, why don't you download the demo and try it? Thanks for the help. It's not that it's...

Re: Finale sticks on pre-processing file for Human Playback
One thing I've discovered is that it hangs like this only if there are glissandi in the score. Files that don't have the glissando marking don't crash. However, if I tell HP not to interpret the glissandi (even though I'd rather hear them), it still hangs.

Finale sticks on pre-processing file for Human Playback
Recently, almost every time I run playback, a popup sticks that says "Pre-processing file for Human Playback" and there's a percentage complete (e.g., 35%) The only way to make it go away is to exit Finale. (Just closing the file doesn't fix it.) For files that have any custom Midi (tempo changes), ...

Re: Glissando playback glitch
Okay, I think I found a solution to my own problem: Glissando glitch - solution.mus If you create expression marks that control the pitchwheel, you can simulate the gliss effect with more control. Starting in bar 4, it's really in 8/8, displaying as 4/4, so I can place expression marks closer togeth...

Re: Glissando playback glitch
As you can see, bars 1-2 are fine. After that, you can hear the mordent. Bars 5-6 show that it doesn't matter how short the note tied to the next note is. Later, I try to use different layers, but it doesn't matter. If the distance between the first and second Cs is longer than approximately a 16th ...

Glissando playback glitch
As shown in the file I will attempt to attach after creating this thread, if there is glissando that starts from a note tied from a previous note, the final note of the glissando will do a sort of inverted mordent. For example, C tied to C gliss to B will do a "BCB" upper mordent on the final B. As ...
