Re: Figured Bass in Finale 26
Thank you, everyone. It looks like the directions in the manual aren't completely adequate. It's obviously best to begin any document that's going to need figured bass configured for it before you start entering any notes at all. If you're part way through, some work-arounds are necessary. So, thank...

Re: Figured Bass in Finale 26
N., yes, that worked. Interesting. Miker, I was trying to do anything I could think of to make it work. I shall, of course, enter using the Shift-#, then just # in the future. Zuill, that looks great, but I don't know what you did. Anyway, it looks like I need to create a brand new, empty document. ...

Re: Figured Bass in Finale 26
I followed everything in Zuill's post. I need to change the font size. Here, try this: take my example and change the lyric's Document Options Font Verse font to Finale Numerics 24 point. Then select the Lyric Tool and click on the last note in the Cello part. A cursor appears below that note. Now, ...

Re: Figured Bass in Finale 26
No matter how I change the font, it remains the same size: tiny. I've tried changing it in Lyric options - which brings up the Document Options dialog and I've brought the Document Options directly. It makes no difference. What do I do beyond this to change the font size?

Figured Bass in Finale 26
I've tried to add bass figurations to the continuo part in the attached example, but no matter how I configure the lyric tool's font with Finale Numerics for 12 point, 24 point, 48 point, whatever point, the numbers underneath the continuo part remain unreadably tiny. How do I get them to be large e...

Repeats don't appear in second linked part
In the attached file, the Rondo has a system of somewhat complicated repeats using a Signo, Coda sign, Fine, DS al Coda and DS al Fine. It all appears in the score and first linked part. In the second linked part - Flauto Secondo - only the little squares marking the positions of the signs appear an...

Re: Creating a new articulation symbol
Zuill, how do I make that? N.G., the publication I'm working from was published in 1854. It's 72 Studies on Taste and Style Composed Expressly for the Boehm Flute by Louis Francois Phillippe Drouet. I'm not sure what he means by it and will, definitely, replace it with a synonymous modern articulati...

Creating a new articulation symbol
I need the attached articulation symbol. It looks like two small accent marks, but goes above or below the note, just as a single accent does. I haven't found this symbol in any fonts that I have. If it's available in some other font, please tell me that font's name and where I can find it. If I nee...

Changing number of staves in a system for a few measures
I have a large file with one staff of exercises in it. After many different exercises, I need to have a new exercise with two staves in a system - like a piano system. I know I can make a double staff system for the whole file and hide one of the staves except for this one small section. Is there a ...

Re: Finale 25.4.1.152 loads VERY slowly
That did it! I'm back to the normal load. The old Preferences file was 16K and I have no idea how it got to be that big. Anyway, thank you, Zuill. You nailed it, again.

Re: Finale 25.4.1.152 loads VERY slowly
Finale 25 has been loaded for several months. At first, it loaded quickly, but it's been slow for about a month or so. I don't remember when it slowed down. Basically, I've just put up with it, but it's gotten more and more annoying so I thought I'd ask here.

Finale 25.4.1.152 loads VERY slowly
After awhile, it succeeds, but the machine seems to be hung for an inordinately long time.
Any ideas?

Repeat text does not appear
My system consists of a flute, two violins, a viola, cello, and keyboard. At the end of a movement, I place "D.C. al Fine" via the Repeat Tool. I've selected the default, to show the repeat text on all staves. It only appears for the flute, violin I, and keyboard. For violin II, viola, and cello, an...

Re: Crowded layout
Interesting suggestions, Peter. Thank you. In the United States we use a decimal point (period) instead of a comma as a separator so the Scaling factor is 1.414 and the reference width is .36. I also found that a duration setting of 512 improves matters even more. Since I didn't realize that these s...

Crowded layout
The attached is the last page of Violin II of the Overture from Bach's Orchestral Suite II. In the seventh line, the beginning of the line is too widely spaced while the last three bars are too crowded - particularly the last, bar 205.I've tried re-spacing that line with note, beat, time, and music ...

Re: Red Lines in Figured Bass
OK. I found the chord library. It is documented - well, sort of. It's name is in the doc; I loaded it, but I can't find anything about how to use it. How, for example, do you get the chord-cursor to appear underneath the note you want to figure? How do you access the provided suffixes?

Thanks.
