Ok, I figured it out, I think. In the smart shape palette, I had trill selected, instead of slur. So, I switched it to slur and it worked. However, I still don't understand why I didn't at least get a trill. But instead got nothing. ??

I can't seem to put in slurs. I have done this many times and know how to do it: click the expression tool (mf), make sure slur is selected in smartshape, then double click on the note. Never mind. I found another way of doing it. I went to the score manager and still couldn't figure out how to move the staves around, but I selected "choral" instead of "orchestral" and voila the piano staves migrated to the bottom.

I don't really think it is the fact that I'm using an old version. I was using this version of Finale without any problems just a few weeks ago. The only change has been moving Finale to a new system. This is the first time I'm using it on this new computer.

How do I get the simple entry rest palette to show alongside the simple entry palette? I see that I can enter a rest by clicking on "tools," then "simple entry rest palette," but this is really cumbersome way of adding rests. Any way to get the rests in a drop-down menu like the notes?

How do I get to the "dialog box for adjusting lyric baselines"?

OK, I see how I can re-adjust the vertical spacing of individual words in each verse. But how do I do the entire verse at once. Every single word in the verse needs to be re-spaced and if I do each one "by hand" it will take forever and probably look sloppy to boot.

I've figured out how to create addition vertical space between staves, but how does one do this for lyrics? I have two verses and, although there is plenty of space between the staves, the two verses of lyrics are scrunched together. They are readable the way it is now, but they would be more easily...
