Re: Export Manuscript Texture Setting to PDF????
@BuonTempi, I ran tests a while ago using only Illustrator to save the vector image for similar purposes. What I found, however, was that the process as it stands is extremely time consuming, as all the intersections caused by the presence of white masks have to be corrected by hand, and this someti...

Re: Export Manuscript Texture Setting to PDF????
To the question thus posed, assuming a direct export from Finale, the answer is probably NO. However, if additional software is used, (I mean Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and Photoshop) then YES. In recent years, almost every project I work on has to be presented this way - with a papyrus or other graphic t...

Re: Can we write text on top of a placed image?
Any way to add a block of text on top of a placed JPG image? Finale automatically sends the text to the back of the image. Hi Djard, Finale arranges individual elements - staff, clef, barlines, text attached to a page, etc. on top of each other on layers and in this case their sequence is important...

Hi Traveler, I'm glad you were able to keep up with the FAN, and thanks to Peter Thomsen for helping out (on my behalf) because I haven't logged into the forum for a few days. I realize that it was an oversight on my part to leave the font without its "description". That's why I'm currently uploadin...

Re: "Create parenthesized accidentals using multiple characters"
Mac vs Windows? Thanks for clearing up the mystery. Enabling or disabling "Create parenthesized accidentals using multiple characters" makes sense if the particular font being used has alternative options for one or the other type of parenthesis or sq. brackets. Finale Maestro has only one type of ...

Re: Partially hiding ties so they don't go through notes
In this case, the solution is to create white mask(s) to attach to the previous bar as shown in the screenshot. Then they only hide the staff lines and nothing else. As you have already figured out, you should use slurs attached to the beats instead of ties. Here is the raw version where you can see...

Re: Is there any way to increase the size of these?
Try working by switching the resolution to 1080p. Then you will have 4 pixels for 1, similar to retina display. For this you can use SwitchResX in HiPDI mode (if your monitor allows it). The picture quality will not suffer, on the contrary. BTW, I had a similar problem with my iMac 27" (my glasses h...

Re: v27 Full of...Problems; v26?
I don't know if you'll feel any mental relief from what I'm about to share below, but I also quit actively using multiple uprade versions after Fin. 2012c (i.e. 2014 - 25.5) on several occasions. Currently I prefer to stay on 26.3. (27.3 I only use it for testing and to teach students.) F.2012 is in...

According to Score Manager, this file was created with Finale NotePad 2002.1. https://i.ibb.co/HrbBBdm/by-default-2023-08-11-at-0-18-28.png I suppose that could be the reason, though I'm only guessing. _______ ОТ Even with older files created 15 years ago (Finale 2008), there are no serious problems...

I've had similar problems opening older projects in 26.3 and 27.3. Here are a few options that may prove useful, though you may need to adjust the layout afterwards. 1. Try using Score Menagerie by going through some of the options shown in the screenshots. https://i.ibb.co/jywLHXy/by-default-2023-0...

Re: Copy parts of a bar without rebeaming
Hi RalphB, Finale is known for some of its quirks, but fortunately, a compromise solution is almost always found. I suggest you try these settings. https://i.ibb.co/Ch8DT8j/by-default-2023-08-07-at-17-45-53.png You still need to use a composite time signature, so you can copy what you've entered as ...

Re: Fin. 27.3 (Win.), Speedy entry tool: V1 inexplicably large at scaling (e.g. 750%)
This is really positive. And I share that it is better to work on the version with which the projects were created. OS in this respect sometimes creates serious inconveniences - recently I had to edit material produced at the end of 2007, and apart from a virtual machine, there was no other way to u...

Motet, thank you for the update!
Obviously the problem is not the virtual machine.
BTW, it's downright amazing how you can still support the F.2005 version.
Is it running on Windows 11 or did you keep an older PC for this purpose?
Best,
Wess

Fin. 27.3 (Win.), Speedy entry tool: V1 inexplicably large at scaling (e.g. 750%)
Hi everyone, During a short presentation to colleagues I had to use Speedy entry. As it turned out that they were all Window users, I used such a version. (I ran it on a Retina 15" Macbook via Parallels desktop 17. The video signal was sent via HDMI to a 50" (Full HD) TV.) I noticed that with relati...

Re: Remove flag leave stem?
Motet's suggestion is a good one, but if you had to put a quarter on voice 2 on less than 4 sixteenths (say at the end, as in two places seen in the manuscript), you'd have to agree every time by clicking OK, with the annoying reminder "There Are Too Many Beats In This Measure", not to mention that ...

Here's a visual easy way to place a glissando. Since I am using shortcuts via Keyboard Maestro, I have indicated with a red rectangle the tools used.

Re: Graphics disappear in Finale 27
I've always been an apologist for the idea of editing graphics in an external editor. Last year, however, influenced by my Chilean colleague Oliver Reid's YouTube channel "Desafíos en Finale", I decided to try his method (again). More than 20 years ago I made the same attempt shown in the video http...

Re: When Ties over a system break
The problem you describe has existed for many years. Apart from using the aforementioned plugin, a solution would be to switch "from autopilot" to "manual control". Click on the handle, press Enter or Return and edit the tie. Turn "Outer Placement" to "off" (as shown). Then make the necessary settin...

Hi Peter, Unfortunately, your advice is not applicable to the Window version of the program, because the underline options in Lines & Curves are simply missing. Since I don't work under Windows, I don't know if these settings have been moved to another menu. I guess Win users could help better. http...

I sincerely apologize for only replying now, after 10 days, but as Peter Thomsen has shown, I used exactly the same method. Re: Hyperlinks don't work in PDF
Creating a hyperlink in Finale is not an ultimate solution, because for me (OS Mojave, Finale 26.3 - 27.2) only Preview and Safari can open such links (I assume the Mac version of Finale is optimized this way), but not Acrobat Pro DC, Chrome, etc. I would suggest an alternative that works successful...
