Re: Section Text for Score & Parts

… I was wondering if there was a way of entering the Chords once at the top of the score and have them print out for each part? … If I understand you correctly, you are talking about, in the score having the chord symbols display only at the top of the score (not displaying on each staff), but in a...

Re: Section Text for Score & Parts

… Actually, is it possible to do the same with chords that will transpose for Bb or Eb instruments and show up on each staff? … When I copy music (including chord symbols) to a staff with staff transposition, then both the notes and the chord symbols are automatically transposed. Are you saying tha...

Re: Section Text for Score & Parts

Actually, is it possible to do the same with chords that will transpose for Bb or Eb instruments and show up on each staff?

Or do you have to enter each separately?

Many thanks!

Re: Section Text for Score & Parts

If "Chorus" is on page 2 in the score and every part, you can get away with using a text block created with the Text tool. That should appear in every part. Otherwise, use an expression in a category that includes a score list, for example the Tempo Marks category. By default, things in that catego...

Section Text for Score & Parts

Hi all, I've imported midi parts into a jazz combo score and I'm producing a lead sheet for the score and each part. I want to add text for each section: (Intro, Chorus, Coda etc.) that will show up on the score and each generated part. It works on page 1 (Intro) but not on page 2 (chorus) of the sc...

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

OK, I discovered that after changing the Quantisation Settings I have to hit Retranscribe...

That achieves what I want ☺

Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread, I've learned a lot over the past few days and Finale doesn't seem quite so perplexing ☺

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

Thanks michelp, downloaded and installed.

Unfortunately, the Remove Notated Swing plug-in also removes swing from the underlying midi.

Playing around with Tempo Marks to make it swing again...

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

Thanks motet,

I couldn't find the 'JW Meter and Rhythm' plug-in under JW Tools and read that it might not be included any more?

In theory, I think the MIDI/Audio Quantisation option should work, but I couldn't get it to do anything at all.

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

What do you mean by "display resolution"? Swing playback is controlled by a tempo marking. What I mean is, if I were to import a swung midi piece without quantising, how would I tell Finale to display the notes as straight 8ths and not triplets within the score? I rarely start with notation, mostly...

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

Thanks motet, A new default document does indeed have the staff styles but not when opening a midi file...or at least it didn't until I changed the default template to Finale Jazz, and now it does! I set import to 8ths and it displays straight and still plays swung, so that's fine, since this piece ...

Re: F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

Thanks Mike, I reinstalled using the Finale bundle installer I used on my other machine, which did display 16ths. Oddly, it didn't work, but I tracked it down to the midi import 'smallest note' setting. I'm trying to change a piano staff to slash notation but neither machine displays that option in ...

F27 doesn't display 16ths, staff styles etc.

Hi all, Currently climbing up that learning curve ☺ I downloaded the V27 Demo which was 200Mb then activated on purchase. The program won't display 16th notes (straight or swing) and a lot seems to be missing like staff styles (e.g. slash). I loaded some libraries of Chord suffixes but have I got th...
