Re: Finale 2008 User Manual
I does seem to be using the files located on my computer rather than online, it's just that showing them in windows explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) rather than the Finale Help Interface. Not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly.

Finale 2008 User Manual
Hello! Before I post all my "real" questions, I'd like to be able to see the Finale 2008 user manual. When I click on anything in user manual menu, it just brings me to a windows explorer window rather than the user manual interface. Not off to a good start (Recently reinstalled on a new Windows 8.1...

Pitchwheel value for 440
I have opened a midi file from online and have had finale transcribe it to a .mus file. I wish to confirm that it is playing back at 440 for the entire piece. I see the "view continuous data" dialogue box but see no place to enter a pitchwheel value. What should the value be for 440? I am using only...

Metronome Sound
How do I find the "metronome sound?" I set up a file that I can use as a verrrry slooow metronome to test my rhythm, and I'd like the playback sound to be the actual Finale metronome sound. I'm using the claves sound now, and it's just not loud enough. Thanks!

I did include tuplets. I should also select rebar music when changing note duration, correct? Sounds easier to just leave the empty bar! The whole midi patch thing never makes sense to me. I do mute the flute part, since *I* am the flutist! I use these to practice my flute parts with accompaniment. ...

Re-write rhythm for entire piece
I took a midi sound file and converted tracks to staves to get a score. The thing is, the rhythm came out as double time. Example: The piece is and should be in 6/8. But instead of a pattern of 3 eighths and a dotted quarter, I get 3 sixteenths and a dotted eight. Make sense? Is there a way I can st...

Okay, so how do I find the basic "metronome click" My countoff sounds as some strange gong, and I have no idea what number to put into the "Midi Note" box that defines the countoff to get it to actually sound like a metronome. Looking at the percussion map isn't helping me at all. Thank you for your...

How can I note which "MIDI note" (aka note "37" or whatever) will make which sound? (I don't have an actual keyboard connected to my computer.

Thank you for fixing my file! You are very kind. But in all my searching through help files, no where did I learn that placing the note on a different line would cause a different instrument to sound. In fact, I didn't even realize I had changed lines at all. Where should I have read that? I would l...

Hmm it is at Channel 10, but I can't seem to get any sort of snare sound. Whistles, yes, snare nowhere to be found or seen. The percussion map discussion in the manual doesn't seem to give me any relevant info, that I can tell. Maybe the original sound I was getting WAS a snare, but just not recogni...

Snare Drum
Hello Forum, The short version of my question: Why doesn't a snare drum playback with a snare drum sound? Further info - I'm trying to create a rhythm that will playback without pitch, so I chose the instrument to be a snare drum. I'm getting a piano, and don't see a snare drum as a choice in the in...

Increase size of speedy entry box?
Okay, I have a very large measure - so big that the box for speedy entry appears full, and I can not actually see the notes I am entering until after I enter them AND change view. Is there a way to increase the size of the speedy entry box so I can actually see what I'm doing??

I found the answer to my question - I hadn't updated to Finale 2000c, which fixed the bug. Frustrating thing is that this didn't come up in the knowledge base. Gahhhhh!

Splitting measure removes staff line
I've split a measure using "horizontal split points" update layout, and then selecting the partial measure using mass mover and used the arrow key to force it down one staff. It moves the music for sure, but also removes the staff lines from the initial staff. Additional update layout doesn't put th...
