Re: Staves without clef symbols

I don't know Finale Songwriter.
Do you have Documents Options -> Clefs ?
In the "full" Finale, there is a box to uncheck.

Re: Clarinet in Bb staff

In the Document menu, you can Display the score in Concert key or transposed. The transposition of the Bb clarinet seems to be correct in the transposed score. No modification needed. The Bb clarinet part will be correctly transposed, too.

You can have 2 staff styles for rhythm notation, 1 with stems up, 1 with stems down.

Re: I’m flummoxed - can’t convince the coda mark to jump forward 3 measures

Your repeats should be reconfigured for correct playback. Look at Target and Jump.  D.S... and Coda (send).   1.jpg     2.jpg P.S. : I would exclude measure 1 (pickup) from the numbering. If you change that, modify the measure numbers in the 2 windows (substract 1). P.S. 2 : how about a backward rep...

Re: Fix Polychord - superimposed chord notation

As Peter points out, this is not a Polychord, but a chord on top of a bass note. This is Herbie Hancock's Dolphin Dance, I assume. I would write Bb-7/Eb, with the alternate bass set to "As Subtext" (oblique line, but the bass note slightly below). A common practice. Bb-7/Eb (or Bbm7/Eb) makes more s...

P.S. : for Eb/F, it is common practice to define the alternate bass "As Subtext".

Expressions using the MaestroTimes font can do it, too.
Here are some common examples. Copy measure 6 and paste it into your document.

To expand on what Peter suggested, on tablet pdf readers (such as ForScore on the iPad), a foot switch allows for instantaneous page turns.

Re: multi-measure rest setting?

Assuming that you have created 2 additional measure regions (via Edit Measure Regions in the Measure tool), you may have forgotten to define the parameters of the parts in region II and III (via the Linked Parts thumbnail).

If you add a slur in a part, it will appear in the score, without any other instruction (no "Relink...").

Re: Library import/ export misses user-defined categories

As we know, a new category is created from a duplicate of an existing one. I have noticed that to be transferred correctly to another file, the new category needs to be modified (even minimally) in one of his parameters (Text font, music font, number font). If the parameters of the new category are ...

Re: overlap instability

A solution would be to swap the layers. I used the JW Staff Polyphony plug-in -> Layers -> Swap (1 & 2) and got the result shown in the first image (except for the red tie). This places the whole note to the left of the dotted quarter and leaves the dot visible. Just flip the tie in Layer 2. Other s...

You can also get an extended keyboard for the Mac (with numeric keypad) to plug into your laptop when you are at home.
P.S.: There are numeric keypad apps for the iPhone (Numpad has a special profile for Finale)

Re: Swapping parts

Undo functions for me. I have made the test in 26.3.1 and 27.4.1 (via the JW Tools menu) on my Mac, in the score (and as a result, in the parts).
Check your preferences and see if the Undo function is activated.
Otherwise, reapply "swap" on the same regions, and it will revert to the previous state.

Re: Repeat for specific part

You could use a staff style (part only) to hide the repeated sections, then add expressions to enter "graphical" repeats (part only). And another expression (part only) to indicate play X times. Still, there are a few problems : hidden measure numbers and rehearsal marks. You can also find a way to ...
