Re: Unlinked hairpins in parts still affecting score?
Existential crisis time. Do you know why it's this way? It's counterintuitive to me. I thought if an element was unlinked, unless I changed its identity (like changing an expression), the part and the score would not affect each other. Do people actually prefer smart shapes do behave this way?? Yeah...

Unlinked hairpins in parts still affecting score?
I've always been under the impression that changing anything about a Smart Shape in a part will unlink it from the score and the version in the score will behave independently from the version in the part. But I just discovered that if I shorten or lengthen a hairpin, the shortening/lengthening happ...

Re: Tempo(s) in Finale
If you want to see them without deleting them, it's a little tedious, but you can view tempo changes with the MIDI tool. Select "Edit Tempo..." in the MIDI menu and double-click on a staff, ideally in scroll view. You should see a horizontal line corresponding to the BPM that then steps up or down a...

Re: speedy entry
How are you connecting the keyboard to the computer? USB? MIDI interface? Does the computer make any indication you've plugged something in when you connect the MIDI keyboard? Does the MIDI keyboard show up at all under MIDI In in MIDI/Audio --> Device Setup --> MIDI Setup?

Re: Time Signature Help (Fractions)
You can create a decimal time signature without using special expressions; just use the Composite dialog box in the Time Signature tool. I guess the only problem is that it puts the dot a little high. The false time sigs are really nifty, though. Lots of fine-tuning to get the placement of the fract...

Re: Expression categories assigned to group instead of staff
I do not want to assign the expression to a specific staff. If the staff is optimized out because it's empty, the expression is then hidden. I want to assign it to a staff group (in the score), so the expression automatically shows up above the group even if the top staff (say violin 1 in the string...

Expression categories assigned to group instead of staff
Currently, I can assign an expression category to attach itself to the top staff of the score, the bottom one, or individual staves. But what if I want an expression to appear at the top of a group? In my example, I have several voice parts above the strings in an orchestral score. Some systems don'...

No, I don't care about chord symbols; I'm asking the same question the original poster did, but seeking an answer for Finale 2006. The only way I can see doing it is to have transposing instruments have independent key signatures, and have, for example, the Clarinet's key sig be B flat so the non-co...

Pitch bend problem
Whenever I use the pitch bend on my MIDI controller in Finale 2006, instead of each direction on the controller bending the pitch a whole step, as it should be, it bends the pitch an entire octave.
Why does it do this and how do I change it?
