Hi all,
- In PM can I hide a specific cautionary clef?
- Can I set something so that all cautionary clefs will be hidden?
And, same two questions for cautionary key changes, and cautionary time-sig changes.
Many thanks in advance for help!

Re: multimeasure rest? percentage?
Thanks. I found Multimeasure Rests: Create/Break in Edit menu. I had been looking for it (and, predictably, not finding it!) where it was in old Finale: Measure menu... The inability to reduce note sizes is one more nail in the coffin: I'm going to need Finale, not PrintMusic. Other features I need,...

multimeasure rest? percentage?
Hello, Two more questions, as I continue experimenting to see if I can squeak by with PrintMusic or whether I need Finale... - In PM, can I break a multi-measure rest? How? - In PM, can I select a few measures and size-reduce everything in them, say to 70%? I want to reduce size of noteheads, slurs,...

measure numbers
Hi all, One more question crops up, as I continue trying to see whether PM will work for me or whether I need to go (back) to Finale. PM is clever enough to avoid counting pickups when numbering measures, but it screws up where a 1st and 2nd ending intrude, just blindly counting all measures in both...

Do you recall when it came into PM?
Thanks,

PM 2004 and 2011...
Hello, Is there someplace online where I can find a comparison of PM2004 and PM2011? Or does anyone out there recall offhand what the significant differences would be? I'm interested primarily in the Page Layout features-- are there any big changes in Page Layout between 2004 and 2011? Thanks, Ch.S.

Re: mid-measure clef change?
For my purposes, what counts is the publication-- the printed output. For string players, having the change of clef in the right spot musically is important. So I'm glad to have a way to get the printed output just right. I can cope with messed-up playback. If PM made mid-measure clef changes easier...

Re: mid-measure clef change?
BUT, there is a good way to fake it, if you just want it correct graphically and don't care about accurate playback. In the Speedy frame, move notes to make a little space where you want the mid-measure clef. Then create an expression in Maestro, a single character, which is the clef you need. 24-po...

Re: mid-measure clef change?
I'm really sorry to hear this.
It's a deal-breaker, and I'll have to go to Finale.
In writing for strings, mid-measure clef changes are routine (viola, cello, bass), and not having it available is inexplicable.
Boo-hoo!

expression to multiple staves
How do I put an expression (a dynamic marking, for example) on several staves of the same system, all at once?
Putting them in one staff at a time is tedious...
Thanks,
Ch.S.

Re: playback speed, deleting measures
Thanks. Double -clicking to select was the answer. For my playback problem, I found the answer by experimenting: if I put a tempo marking in at the beginning via set-up wizard, something like "Allegro (quarter = 96)", it overrides anything I can do in Playback window to adjust playback tempo. This s...

playback speed, deleting measures
Hi, Two things not working as they should: 1- to delete a range of measures, selecting them and hitting Delete should work. It doesn't. 2- in Playback, there is a tempo setting-- but it has no effect: quarter = 20 and quarter = 200 (or any other number) play back in exactly the same tempo. Suggestio...

cleaning up after scan
Hello, I'm using PrintMusic 2011 on an iMac running OS 10.5.8. I've successfully scanned in a one-page score consisting of 3 systems, four staves each. The result is pretty good, but some cleanup is (of course) required. At first glance, there are 3 necessary things which I don't know how to do: 1- ...

Midi-to-USB?
Hello all, I've been happily inputting music forever with Speedy + computer keyboard, but am now looking into piano-keyboard input. My first question has to do with hardware: How do I connect? The back of my (piano)keyboard has a midi output, which seems to want a round plug with 5 pins across the t...

Hi! I want to make one note have a X-shape to illustrate an pitch-less percussive effect in a banjo-score I'm writing. How do I do it? I cant get the note shape tool in the special tools palette to work (clicking on it doesn't in-activate the previously chosen tool in the main palette) and I cant f...

In the MIDI menu you can choose Internal Speaker Playback and turn it Off.jkarman wrote:In Allegro there's sound with every note while editing. Can we put that
off? (I can switch off my boxes, but I have those on for other reasons).
Or you could just hit the Mute button (or turn volume down to 0)

Re: How do i create rests
I'm finding finale hard to use, how to I create rests? I can't find the answer for this anywhere! If you're using Speedy to enter notes, and you want, say, an 8th rest, first enter an 8th note (hit 4) anywhere (pitch doesn't matter) then hit Clear, and the 8th note turns into an 8th rest. Similarly...

Note Spacing
Hello, I've used Finale in the past, am now trying Allegro to see if I can get away with it insteqd of upgrading Finale. What about note spacing, for example to correct grace-note placement? In Finale, I used note-mover tool, part of Special Tools. In Allegro, I have a Special Tools pallette, but ap...
