That's excellent Tom. I sometimes do arrangements for the choir at my local Salvation Army and they like a part for tambourines. Up till now I've been struggling with a standard 5-line staff with perc map and now you've removed that drudgery. Thanks very much, you clever chap! :)

The problem then would be the stems. Yes, true. My idea was to create an expression with the X notehead on a white background, which Suzy could use to mask out the normal notehead. If you can create expressions in PrintMusic I can show you how to do it. In Finale there's a much simple way: Tools > ...

Do you have Maestro or Petrucci fonts installed? The X character is Alt+0192. I'm wondering if you can make them with text expressions if you can't change the noteheads.

Hi Ryan, 1. Yes, there's no limit. You can space the systems closer together using the Page Layout tool if this works for you. But I guess you'll end up having to reduce the size of the music as Finale's default size is rather large. Use the Resize Tool marked % to reduce the size of an individual s...

You have completely solved my problem - I never knew to try Document Check. I discovered there were more errors than actual written music, because of all the editing I have done. Problem solved. You, sir, are an officer and a gentleman. I thank you. I remember years ago when I first started with Fi...

Hello Kismet, I just found your message. The metronome on/off setting and the sound you hear is a program function, it isn't saved in a MIDI file. If you want to hear the metronome when the MIDI file is played back, you need to switch it ON in the program you use for playing the file. The same appli...

Entering 4 in 3 is really easy in Speedy Entry Tool. Click on the Speedy Tool and then on the measure to open the entry frame. Hold down Ctrl and type 4, and you can now enter a tuplet of 4 notes in the time of 3, whatever value.

Hi Chris, I used to own a Kawai synth years ago and had the same question. The answer is that the MP9500 does not conform to the General MIDI (GM) specification for program numbers. If you look at the Instrument List panel there is a column headed "Prog." and next to it one headed "GM". Songwriter a...

Sorry I'm not conversant with PrintMusic, but in Finale the way to do this is to change the time sig. For example, for 4/4 time you would normally enter 4 notes of 1/4 value in the time sig dialogue box, and then two 1/8 notes on one beat would beam together and 2 notes of 1/2 value would beam four ...

Using Speedy entry, I just enter three 1/8 notes, change the first one to a 1/4 note and delete the second.
