Re: tremolo hairpins crash finale 2005
I've had this happen from time to time and it drove me crazy... Used to happen on one piece, but not on others. I survived by copy-pasting into a new blank document, but one day it spread like a virus and suddenly none of my songs would accept expression entries. When I finally opened a case with Su...

Re: Is there a way to temporarily disable hairpin playback?
I've got something that may be a workaround, or it may simply be too messy for your taste. However, I've been able to make it work for me in playback. I don't disable the hairpins, for what it's worth. I set the dynamics at both ends of the hairpin, then reset the score or part back to the "correct"...

Re: Is there a fix for Finale's exit document bug?
I live with a variation of this. Whenever I exit Finale (2014.a), it first gives a note onscreen that it is "trying to recover" information (although I have saved the file and used the "File/exit" method to close the program), then after a few seconds flashes the "Finale is res-starting" box onscree...

Re: Finale can't handle Windows hibernate?
Happens to me every now and then on my Win7 laptop. I just assume that Finale is one of those processes that will slowly take over your RAM if you leave it alone too long.
Sort of a spite thing, I guess.

Re: Any way to permanently terminate the reverb?
I use Finale 2014.5 in Windows 7 on a now-ancient laptop with an early quad processor and 1 full Gb of RAM. Only the most complex cinema-type orchestras give me sound playback issues. For speakers, I run a pair of powered, flat-response studio monitors from M-Audio out of the headphone jack and it`s...

1954, born on the first day of school. Dad, being a teacher, stayed at the hospital long enough to learn I was a boy, then went to work.
Try doing that now, I dare ya!
So, I'll be a semi-retired 63 in a couple of months.

Re: The future of Finale
I recall when there were a lot of people saying very similar things about some of the bigger DAWs a few years back when Reaper was making it's biggest splash. Cost factor, an active forum of well-informed users and near-constant updates/fixes were the main selling features. But Reaper wound up being...

Seems to have worked! Thanks, Zuill! And because I don't have a lot of customization in the workspace, I'll just move things around as and when I need 'em. No problems

All of a sudden- expression tool causes crash
Test me if you can.rar Out of the blue, the expression tool has decided to crash my Finale 2014.5 application each and every time I try and invoke it. It happened whilst I was editing a new score for "lara's Theme", to be used as a demo. I did not even use my normal orchestra template (which has wo...

Re: Talk to me like I'm an idiot
In September I did up a score for a "downsized" version of a musical. I did the drums per Finale (hi-hat, snare, toms, cymbals, kick etc) and in Finale (JAAB, SI-drums, etc) the score played back as I thought it should. Then I gave it to the real drummer, a pro from a local symphony. EVERY cymbal wa...

Re: Improving playback sounds
There's no doubt it will help, but in the end it's not so much the tools as the way they are used... And that, to be simple, just means "lots of practice".
Best of luck!!

Re: Improving playback sounds
Hello and welcome. Five years ago, I was you, in a way. I had been using PM since 2000, but it was finally time to get serious about it and bite the bullet if I ever wanted my playbacks to sound better (or if I ever wanted more staves in my work). While I am by no means an expert in this field, you ...

Re: Outputting for kindle?
If it's just a music book, then I would get all the music written, and save the end results as .pdf files. I believe Kindles read PDFs (I could be wrong). If not, there are conversion programs to turn pdf's into ebook format. If you're adding text, of course it will get a little more complicated, bu...

Re: Finale crashes while entering expressions 2014.5
I heard from Support and their second take on a fix seems to have worked. Two potentially corrupted ini files were removed. Here's the process. Note it's for Win7, but I am sure it can adapted to other versions if needed: 1. Exit Finale 2014.5. 2. Hold down your Windows key and press the letter R to...

You tell that you are using Finale 2014.5 - but according to your user profile you are still using Finale 2012c.
Perhaps it is time that you update your user profile.
Will open a ticket.

Finale crashes while entering expressions 2014.5
Okay, I am stumped... I'm working on a new arrangement in Finale, a Big band version of "Music to Watch Girls By".. Notes are in, articulations added, and all it well. Then I go to add in the expressions (FF, pp, etc) and it crashes, comes up with a crash dump list and tries to send it off to MM. Ok...

Well, they do have their own support page (on their own website)...
Most always, the folks here use and troubleshoot Finale products and are likely not so familiar with yours.
Sorry.

Re: playing only on repeat -- possible???
I went through this a couple of years back. If you're talking strictly about playback, sorry, but I think you may be out of luck. If you're planning purely on producing sheet music, then the old note "play only..." on the appropriate staff should suffice. My workaround has become to create TWO versi...
