Re: Grace Note Offset on Entry ?
Finale won't accept overlapping of grace notes and normal notes with any of the settings for grace note spacing. The only way I found if you want to use grace notes is to enter them as grace notes and leave them as they are till the end, and then turn of all automatic spacing and with the measure to...

Re: Grace Note Offset on Entry ?
If you just set Grace Note Spacing to "Keep current" in the music spacing tab under document options, does that not do the trick? Taken that you have automatic music spacing on, this should work as you describe. *EDIT* It also seems necessary to give Grace note offset a slightly higher value than no...

Yes. You do not get any confirmation whatsoever, but it does work. Document-specific, though.

Re: Windows shortcuts
Just select the tool you want to program, and then press shift+F3 or whatever function key you want to program.
If you are on a laptop, make sure the function keys are set to "normal" f1-f12 instead of things like mute, volume, wireless etc.

Re: Re-measuring again and again
https://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=6&m=449855 All instructions are in the thread. On my system (Windows Swedish) I had some localization problems with the dialog boxes displaying in chinese, but some trial and error solved it... :-) You can add/delete one or several measures and the regions ...

There is what you need in a LUA script on the old forum. I will try and find it for you.

Re: Staff spacing in orchestral scores
In TGtools there is a function for copying staff spacing from one page to another or to a range of others. If you have that, it might save you some time at least.

That's probably the best way to go. Also check out the AHK scripting routines that Jari has published (win only) if you want to make shortcuts for it.

Re: Staff spacing in orchestral scores
Thank you Nick, very interesting! Jeffrey, as a side remark on hiding staves: only do it if it makes two or more systems fit on the page. Otherwise there is no real benefit from hiding the staves. If I understand you correctly, that you are hiding staves because you cannot fit all staves on the page...

Re: Copyable staff styles in parts
Well, to late for doing it the smart way now in acts 1 and 2, but now I hopefully know how I will go about for act 3. I am using the method for creating titles described somewhere in the old forum (one bar, one line, everything set to be hidden except title expression). After finishing the score, I ...

Re: Copyable staff styles in parts
Thanks to you both. Have been living with this for so long time, but only now investigated it. Yes, within score or part seems to be the only possible way. Copying between parts does not work either. The preview video they released the other day gives a bit of hope. If there's more where that came f...

Copyable staff styles in parts
Hello,
no matter what I do I cannot have my staff styles to follow along in a simple copy and paste. AFAIK I have set everything correctly. I think I read somewhere that this is a long standing bug, correct me if I am wrong. I am still on 2014.5, is this different in finale 25?
TIA

Re: Dorico, Finale, and crystal balls
To question 2: I believe it's worth it. Before starting a "real" project though, just make sure that what you can't compromise with can be done without too cumbersome workarounds. When I started working with Dorico I made a script for the numpad emulating Finale's shortcuts, that made things easier....

Re: The Error 2 problem
Thanks for your input. I printed pdfs and saved at least one clip file. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to try to insert the clip file instead of just pasting it in some vain attempt to see if the layout would transfer. Total failure. Had to force quit. Anyway, now I am up and going again with a n...

Yes, I just opened the latest .bakx file, and that one saves under another file name without problems. Now I have to be off, but I will try copying into that file later.

Re: The Error 2 problem
Thank you Zuill,
I think I actually did that on your recommendation many years ago, but I have apparently forgot to do so when upgrading. I will do it again.
No idea about how to proceed to save the file that I have open right now?

The Error 2 problem
Hello, through the last years this was discussed https://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=5&m=476153 Was there ever a fix to this? Does it still happen in Finale 25? I have an open file right now that is exhibiting the problem (2014.5). I have been trying lots of things to be able to save the file...

Re: Remove hidden playback notes
OK, so I found a solution. Select all Plugin Voice 2 to layer (moving layer one voice 2 to layer 4) Show layer 4 only Clear selected items (notes) Done. I'll leave this for the record in case someone else encounters the same problem. Fortunately I did not use voice 2 for anything in this score. Note...

Some more screenshots.
I read an old thread about the human playback plugin that creates this kind of notes, and that it would be possible to run it to delete them. But the plugin does not exist anymore I think.

Remove hidden playback notes
Hello, sometimes I get a lot of hidden notes that apparently has to do with playback. I can hide them and that's fine, but in some cases they flip the stems of the music that is already there. The notes seem to be added in v2. So the question is: is there a way of getting rid of all these notes in o...
