Should work, but don't forget that there are actually 4 sides when you print on 11X17 if you want it to print on both sides. If you don't want it to print on both sides, don't forget that you don't just want it to print Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, page 4, Page 5, etc. Assuming a 6 page document, Page 1 ...

Mike did not go off topic. He was merely making a suggestion to make your music composing/writing more enjoyable. It seems that you want Finale to behave the way that you want, instead of finding out how Finale actually behaves. Finale works very well for thousands of users. Take a few moments to di...

miker, A "measure stack" to me conjures an image of something placed on top of something else--a stack. Adding one stave doesn't included the idea of a stack but more of a series. But, when in Rome.... So I'm OK with it. I am able to add a new stave anywhere in my score by inserting a "Measure Stac...

Re: Staff Tool
I said to double click WHERE you want to put a new staff, not to double-click ON an existing staff. In other words, if you want to insert a new staff between staff 2 and staff 3, then double-click between staff 2 and staff 3. If you want to add a staff below the last staff on your page, then double...

Re: Staff Tool
[quote="Djard"]Warren, I don't doubt what you say is true. But when I select the "Staff Tool" and double click in my score--as you kindly instruct--all I get is the "Staff Attributes" window that offers no provision for adding a new stave. I may be misunderstanding you, but as an grammarian, I think...

Re: An successful way to add a new stave.
I notice that in the manual Finale quite often refers to a stave as a system. Your explanation, distinguishing between the two, was helpful. By the way, the Finale manual NEVER refers to a staff as a system, or a system as a staff. In cases where you only have a single staffed composition, you will...

Uh... NopeDjard wrote:Warren,
I think you are merely quoting from the manual.
When the staff tool is selected, to add a staff, just double-click where you want the new staff to go.

So, as far as I can figure out, the only unique things that the selection tool does, is let you click on an item to bring up its associated tool, and to double-click a measure to select the entire measure stack. Does anybody know of anything else that you can do with the selection tool that you cann...

Inseting a system is not the same thing as adding a staff. If you want to add a staff, be in either page view, studio view, or scroll view, click on the staff tool and double-click where you want to add the staff or use the Setup wizard to add a staff or staves. A system is all the staves in your sc...

Hmmm... Even when I tested all the different tools to try to get the double-click to work, I didn't bother with the Selection tool. I have never used it except to click on an artifact to bring up its tool. I didn't realize that the selection tool did anything else. That's why I read the forum every ...
