Re: How does we double note values in a passage?
Burt, I don't understand. If you want to double the note durations, you have to rebar, or you have too many notes in a measure. I selected 2 measures of a score I'm working with, which contain eights, dotted quarters, dotted eights, sixteenths, quarters, and half notes: pretty much everything. I wen...

Body percussion
I’m looking for stomps, claps, and snaps. Does anyone know where to look?
Of course, (if) after I find them, I’ll be asking for help how to use them, but that’s another problem…

Here you are! Thanks.
I had to load it as a zip. XML is not a valid file extension, it seems.

Score Manager confusion
What is this, why is it here? As usual, I imported an XML from SmartScore, and imported it into Finale. Instead of the regular Women's voice, Men's Voice (which I change anyway) I got these strange entries: Screenshot 2024-03-14 at 1.38.48 PM.jpg Even when I added new staves, and copied music into t...

David, great idea, moving the initial rest, down. I used layers, but your way is easier.
jo, with motet’s instructions, I doubt you still need my Finale file.

I wasn't able to duplicate the problem. I did this with the note mover, and JW Change to move the rests off the page.

motet, in my experience, it’s easier to have them in different verses. And make sure that the voices are on different channels, as well.
Jose, yes, that's the way I would do it.

Re: Lyrics too low
Your lyrics are pretty messed up. I can tell by selecting a lyric while the lyrics window is open, and seeing how the selection is jumping around. Right now, both soprano and alto are in verse one, and tenor and bass in verse two. Each part (SATB) should have its own lyrics, in verses 1, 2, 3, and 4...

Re: Lyrics too low
If you are in Type Into Score mode, select a lyric, and you will see 4 triangles on the left. Grab the 3rd triangle from the left, and you can move all the lyrics up or down in that system. To move them globally, grab the 1st triangle on the left.

Re: Niente decrescendo hairpin
As far as I know, you’ll have to create the circle as an expression, and add it to the hairpin. This is a long-standing request, and they have not implemented it.

Re: Problems using tablature
No, SmartScore is a completely separate product. Do your scanning and editing there (and there IS a learning curve) and take the XML into Finale for final tweaks. Look over the selection of products. One of the programs below the Pro version might do what you need. SmartScore has notation, although ...

Re: Cut/Paste in Lyrics Window V. 27
I don't use Finale on a regular basis and have recently upgraded to Version 27, Windows. I'm noticing that I cannot "cut and paste" lyrics in the lyrics window as I have done in previous versions. Is this a bug or has Finale been changed in some way to inactivate this feature? It works for me, but ...

Re: Problems using tablature
Your photo scan may have been the problem, or, at least part of it. Using a phone or tablet will always introduce a certain amount of distortion, which makes recognition even more error prone. A flatbed scanner will do a much better job. Still, if you can take a picture and export it as a PDF, let’s...

Re: Problems using tablature
I'd really like to see the original PDF or TIFF, if possible. I use SmartScore Pro, but they have other versions which are limited in what they do, but they all have the same scanning and editing capabilities.
You might not even need Finale.

I think he was trying to insert the elision character. By the way, between the two versions I have, 2014.4 and 27, they've added a keystroke for the elision symbol, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+minus. Jose Oscar's bio says he's got Finale 25; I don't know if the new feature made it in by then, but if not, it mig...

Info in the Score Manager seems to be locked in to the linked text frames. If you need to make changes in the score, I would suggest using individual text frames, instead.

Re: Problems using tablature
Your method may be part of the problem. It sounds like you used one of the "black box" programs which takes your picture and spits out an XML. So whatever errors may have been picked up in the scan (and I guarantee there were some) were buried in the XML. A program like SmartScore (which I use, but ...
