Someone mentioned Charles in another post and it occurred to me I hadn't seen him in a while, so I decided to investigate.

He was a friendly and helpful presence on the old forums and here and I will miss him.

This is indeed very sad. I know Charles has helped me with more than one problem on the old forum. He'll be missed.

Thanks for the link. Charles and I had many good discourses through the years, and he would often catch mistakes in my posts, which I found very helpful. He was thorough and articulate in his posts.
He will be missed by me as well.

To all who commented here, your words are immensely touching. I'm actually from Georgia and played in the Columbia County Orchestra with Charles, though I didn't know him as well as I would've liked. I had no idea that he was so active in this community. I think even I had used one or two of his examples & work-arounds from the old forum but never put two and two together on the name. My teachers always told me that the music world was a small world, but I guess I never really understood it so well until now.

This is very sad news.
Charles created a Lua plugin that makes it possible to use standard multi-measure rests for double staffed instruments.
http://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=6&m=462676, for which I am very grateful, and his comments were always very helpful.
Thank you, Charles, for a well-lived life that also intersected ours.
