Finale Notepad likes to configure my measure widths how it sees fit, and I wonder if there's a way I can fix it to how I like it manually. I can't seem to find any indication of this anywhere though. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry, but you can't do that in NotePad. You would have to go to SongWriter (or higher) for that control.

Good to know, thank you for your help. At the great price that Notepad costs I don't expect all the bells and whistles, and I can certainly go without this one, I was just wondering.

On a related note- can you adjust the spacing of measures to save paper? For example, I am using 15 measures for a small excerpt. The first 13 fit onto one line, but the last two are on a second line. Is there any way to put those two measures onto the top line with the other 13?

Not in NotePad, sorry. You need (at the minimum) SongWriter to make layout changes. You can do a WHOLE lot more with that program, and I would sincerely recommend that you move to SW2010 while it is still available.
