Is there a way in PrintMusic to create accents in lyrics (for example, when you're adding Latin text to a melody)? I've searched the help file, but maybe I'm not using the right terms. And it seems I can't copy and paste accented text from elsewhere.

The maddening thing is that I've downloaded Finale files from the web that contain accented text, but I have no idea what version of Finale they were using or how they did it.

There are a number of ways. Are you on Windows (I can help) or Mac (I can't)?

Also, specifically, what accents are you trying to add?

Thanks for offering to help. I'm on Windows (what do you take me for?) :D

Here's an example of the type of Latin text I would be working with:

Aspérges me. Dómine, hyssópo, et mundábor: lavábis me, et super nivem dealbábor.

I don't know what that type of accent is called, but I think it's the only one I'm likely to encounter because I just work with Latin and English.

Man, that is maddening. You are limited to character-at-a-time insertion (on Windows at least) using the despised Alt-codes.

The web page at http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/inte ... tml#accent may be of some help.

By the way, on my laptop I can't use the top-row numerals -- I have to turn on the Num Lock which repurposes MJKLUIO into numeric keys. A heck of a lot of effort for an ümlaut. :-)

I've always suspected that the inability to paste text into PrintMusic was one of MM's punishments to us cheapskates.

Download the free product AllChars for Windows from http://sourceforge.net/projects/allchars. It makes those accents easy to do.

CTRL,a,' gives you á and so forth. No ALT codes needed.

Tom, that goes for you, too! For an umlaut, CTRL, u, " gives ü.

Thanks, miker! This is a game-changer. So far, it's working just fine on Vista....

Glad to hear it. I really like the program. I set up text string macros with it, too. And thanks for letting us know it works on Vista. That's certainly good info.
