I have a slightly different problem. When I try to input notes through my midi device (keyboard), all works well, except that the sound of the notes coming from the computer is about a second off from the sound of the notes coming from the keyboard. I have to mesh my playing with the program, or else the notes will all be half a stave off, but I can't ignore the sound from the piano sufficiently to do it. And I can't turn off the sound from the piano without losing my place in the song.
Any ideas or tips?

Two ideas:
1) Are you inputting a transposing instrument, like e. g. Trumpet in B♭?
Select "Display in Concert Pitch", and the problem might be solved.
You can de-select "Display in Concert Pitch" when you have finished inputting notes.
2) Are there any glissandi in the music?
Try deleting the glissandi, and see if that helps.
You can enter the glissandi again when you have finished inputting notes.
