Adding text to score causes it to appear on 'intrument' area

I use PrintMusic to write organ music. When I try to add text anywhere on the page using the 'T' icon it places the text where I entered it AND on the instrument area (left side of the staff) AND it places itself in the 'instrument' list in the Window section. If I delete it there then the text disappears altogether. To make a long story short my 'text' feature is totally useless. Is this a known problem?

Welcome to the forum.

No, I haven't heard of this one, before. Is it in all documents, or just one? Have you tried trashing the Finale preferences?

Can you post a file, so we can have a look? To post a .mus file here, it must be compressed (zipped) and cannot exceed 100 kb in size.

Mikes, thanks for your prompt reply! Yes it does it on every document. How does one trash the Finale preferences?
When I get home I will post a sample file.

Truly bizarre.

I don't know why it's working this way, but it's related to having nothing in the Abbreviated Instrument Name in the Score Manager. So go to the Score Manager, and in the "abbrev." blank, just type a space.

That seems to do the trick.
