I composed a piano piece in NotePad, which I would now like to import into the piano score part of a full orchestral score in PrintMusic.

Is this possible, and if so, how is it done?

Nothing to import. Just open PrintMusic, and open the file.
IMPORTANT: The version of PM must be the same, or newer, than the version of NotePad. This is true across the entire Finale line.

I apologize, I think my Subject header must have misled you--but it didn't have enough space for my full question.

Let me try again:

I'm not looking to simply open up a Notepad piece in PrintMusic--I know how to do that.

What I'm trying to do is import a Notepad piano piece into the "piano" space of a full PrintMusic orchestral score.

Now, if I just open the piece in PrintMusic, it automatically opens as a piano-only piece, with no other instruments cued up: and that's not what I want. I want the full complement of instruments, with piano at the bottom. You know, an orchestral score.

In other words, I don't want to have to re-compose my piano score, just because PrintMusic doesn't have some way to cut and paste the work I've already done.

See what I mean? There's got to be some simple functionality for this.

Can't you open both documents (the empty score, with an empty piano, and the piano document), and then select and copy the piano part and paste into the full score ?

Michelp is correct. Have both docs open, and then you can copy and paste the music from the piano staves over, or, simply, drag it.
