Splitting staves

Hope someone can help -

I'm trying to compose a choral piece of music and would really like to split the soprano staff into two separate staves; then join them back together later on in the music. I see it on several sheet music pieces. The split is indicated with two small arrows; one pointing up and the other pointing down from the middle line of the stave. Then the split happens (so now there are two separate soprano staves). Then the rejoining of the staves are indicated by two arrows from the separate staves pointing at each other (now there is one soprano stave). I NEED HELP ON HOW TO DO THIS!

Thanks a lot!! :)

You need to start with two staves, and hide one where you don't want it to show.

Thanks for the advice so quickly! It's working just the way I wanted it to work and look! The only thing that I need now is to add those arrows to indicate staves breaks and rejoining. How can I add this? (Image example below)

In PrintMusic, you can't do the arrowheads, but you can do the lines with the SmartShape line tool. The line will be understood just as well as the arrows.

In Finale, you can do the arrows by Ctrl clicking on the Custom Line Tool in the Smart Shape Tool. Select the line with the arrow.

But not in PrintMusic, which was the original question.

However, in PM (or Finale) you can find the divide and rejoin arrows in the Bravura font, and use them to create expressions.
