I have SW 2012, Windows. I recently added a harmony line to a simple melody using "Band-in-a-Box" auto-harmonizing. The trouble is, the harmony line was added to the same layer as the melody line. This means I can't "show selected layer" and work on one line of music.
How do I move the Melody line to Layer 1 and Harmony line to Layer 2? In other words, how do I split the stacked notes into 2 layers?
Thanks,
Larry

I don't think you can. In Finale, there are plug-ins, one of which allows "exploding" chords, but they aren't available in SongWriter. Sorry.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to copy the combined staff to another one, and then step through the two staves, deleting the notes you don't want. Then, you could change one of the layers, and recombine the staves.
