Hello !
I'd like to know how to do triplet like this :
- triolet.jpg (5.47 KiB) Viewed 25077 times
If I choose the quarter notes after the triplet tool, I can't insert an half note. If I choose the half note, it bring an half note triplet.
What is the solution ?
Thanks !
Pat

Take a look at my tutorial Tuplets with Simple Entry at

That explains mixed Tuplets.

Errr...
It work, but what if the long note is in the beginning ?
If I select an half note (like in the exemple in gived), it will put a half note triplet. And if I select the quarter note, it don't want to put an half note.
So ?
Pat.

Enter the half note. ALT+9 to enter the tuplet definition box. Set the tuplet as three quarters in the space of 2 quarters. OK.
When you are returned to the score, it will show your half note, and a quarter rest for the next entry. Switch back to quarter note, and enter it.

Ok. Here is the result I obtained when I began this post :

I did all the things you said and I obtained the same result. What's wrong, please ?

It looks like you are clicking out of the triplet, before you enter the last note.
Set your default tuplet as 3 quarters in the space of 2 quarters.
Type this:
6, B, 9, 5, B.
What happens?

Here is what I do :
I put my half not on the stave, I selected the tuplets tool, and click on the half note.
- T1.jpg (74.03 KiB) Viewed 25047 times
Then, I selected 3 quarters ("noires" in french) in the place of 2.
- T2.jpg (16.63 KiB) Viewed 25047 times
Finally, I placed a quarter in the tuplet :
- T3.jpg (16.73 KiB) Viewed 25047 times
And I obtained the result you saw.
Thanks for your help but I'm sorry : when I follow your directives, it don't work, because the "B" place the quarter as a "B" in the stave, and the enter key work no more.
Help !
Do you think that Vista can put the mess in the program ?
Thanks again !

Don't use the tuplet tool!
Stay in simple entry, and tap the keys I suggested. No enter keys, no other tools, no mouse. (When I said the B key, that was just an example. Tap the letter A-G key for whatever note you want.)
Here's the full sequence, assuming that you are in bass clef for the notes in your example. All of the numbers are tapped on the numberpad.
Simple Entry tool.
6, A (will put the half note A on the staff)
ALT+9 (hold the ALT key, and tap the 9. This will open the Tuplet dialogue box.)
Set 3 quarters in the space of 2 quarters, OK.
5, C (will enter the quarter note C)
If you follow these directions, you will get what you want.
