Special Tools

Hi

the first time i used songwriter 2012 i had access to the special tools (hammer icon), but it disappeared and i did not mind, since i didn't need it for a while.

But now i can't find it, i can't reach it anywhere

https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Fin ... nName=main

i tried this steps but there is no hammer symbol, my finale has no "special tools pallette", and its not under "window".
how is this possible since i've used it before?

I looked in the Manual available on the MakeMusic website and don't find Special Tools:

The link you provided is for Finale. The link I provided is for SongWriter. Which program are you using?

Right, but Zuill's point was that you're looking at the (full) Finale user manual.

Start here for Songwriter 2012 on Windows

Motet,

That seems to be the same link I posted earlier.

What's puzzling me is: how does one get Special Tools in SongWriter when it is not there? The claim is that it was there last week, but is now gone?

I'm a bit confused by the claim.

If the special tools are available, they should be on the Tools menu, regardless of hammer icon. Screenshot below from Finale 2011, not Songwriter!

They are not available in SongWriter, nor have they ever been.

If the OP posts the document, will File Info tell us what program created it?

Only the full Finale has the Accidental Mover tool.

To the OP; can you post the document? Are you sure that you don’t have both Finale and SongWriter on your computer?

You might want to spring for the upgrade. It will make your life easier.

Since you've used the tool, but it's not in SongWriter, I'm guessing you might have been trying out a demo of Finale and used the tool. If you used the tool in SongWriter, maybe you have a special version of SongWriter that nobody else has. I doubt that, but one never knows.

Indeed there is a simpler way to do this.
It is called Cross-staff notes.

You can do it if you upgrade to the “full Finale”.

In the “full Finale” there is even a Cross Staff plug-in (as part of the plug-in package TG Tools).

With the plug-in you can create cross-staff notes very quickly and easily, via keyboard shortcuts.

(I suppose that the problem here is not the creation of 7-tuplets or 14-tuplets, but rather the cross-staff notation)

yeah indeed the graphic notation display is the problem, the songwriter 2012 isnt making my life easier :D

(i expect with finale i can open this songwriter sheets i already worked on, and fix the last things (?) )

Yes. That's the way Finale is designed. You can open and edit your SongWriter files.
