in selecting instruments out of the Kontakt full GPO - some of the brass will have an 'ag' listed after it. for instance, the horn overlay has one to select that has an 'f' - forte, another with an 'ff' fortissimo and one with an 'ag'. Does anyone have ideas about what this is for?

The 'ag' designation represents "aggressive" which describes the sound emanating from brass instruments when they are forcefully played. The sounds are often characterized by varying degrees of "raspy" harshness or "edginess" which become more pronounced as they become louder and have stronger attacks. You can acquaint yourself with their sounds by listening to notes from these instruments having various attacks attached to them (different velocities and different volumes). Compare them to the non-'ag' instruments and note the difference in their sounds. You might also find a review of the GPO manual useful.
