Hello all, I love this programme and this forum.
I have four systems on one page, each has a treble and a bass staff. I need to make the third system wider, ie, create a bigger distance between the treble and the bass staves.
How can I do this? If I select the Staff Tool and drag the Bass staff downward then every Bass staff moves down.
Thanks for any advice offered.
Gwyn.
Can I widen only one system?

It depends on the program. NotePad can't do it. For the rest, you need to select Allow Individual Staff Spacing. Look at the help files to find this command in your program, as it is in different menus.
Once you have selected that, when you choose the staff tool, you will see two boxes at the left end of each staff, rather than one. If you click in the lower one, you will be able to move that staff in that system only.

Thanks for your response Miker. I'm using Finale 2009.
The Help files are generally excelent as is the documenttion supplied with the prog, this particular aspect seems a bit vague though.

In Finale 2009, I THINK you will find that command in Page Layout Menu>Systems> (you have to select systems to have that command made active)

You can also find "Allow Individual Staff Spacing" in the context menu.miker wrote:In Finale 2009, I THINK you will find that command in Page Layout Menu>Systems> (you have to select systems to have that command made active)

Thanks for your help Miker.
I'm a convert from another leading software brand, in which you can simply drag the individual system to whatever size youe want.
In the Page Layout\Systems menu the "Allow Individual Staff Spacing" is greyed out. How do I un-grey it?
(Edit) Cancel that. Just found it.
Cheers everyone.
