X noteheads

I need to copy some x noteheads. I see under Maestro font in the manual that the command is Alt +0192 but it doesn't tell me how to enter that in the music. Any advice most welcome.

Wouldn't it be easier to change the noteheads to X's in Special Tools?

According to your signature you are using SongWriter 2012.

Are you using SongWriter 2012?
- Or are you using the “full Finale” 2012?

The layout options in SongWriter are very limited.
It may not be possible to do what you need, in SongWriter.

Since we know very little about your problem, we can only guess.
It would help if you explained the problem, as clearly as possible.
What do you need to do?
What happens (or does not happen) when you try to do so?

The more we know, the better we can help you with ideas and suggestions.

Also, it might help if you attach a (small) Finale document, that shows the problem.
This forum does not accept attachments with the Finale file name extension.
Before you can attach a Finale document here, you must compress it, e. g. as a .zip file.
And the file size must not be more than max 100 KB.

SongWriter can't do it as easily as Finale can. But it can be done, although it takes a bit of effort.

Here is a tutorial I wrote up for PrintMusic, but the instructions for SongWriter are the same.
