Hi There
Maybe someone can help....I have some Print Music files saved to a CD, they are .mus files. However when I try to import them into Print Music on my laptop, I keep getting "invalid file type" and the file won't open. I have tried saving the files to My Documents in Windows but I can't open them from there either. The files won't open in Adobe Acrobat either.
Any ideas to get around this would be really appreciated as I could do without a load more inputting of music notes.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

1) The .mus file format (the Finale file format) is not downwards compatible, meaning that older versions of the program can not read documents created in newer versions of the program.
You tell that you are using the 2001 version.
If the .mus documents are created in later version, then the 2001 version can not open them.

Idea:
Download and install the free Finale NotePad 2012.
Try to open the .mus documents in NotePad 2012.
If NotePad can not open them, then perhaps they are corrupted.

Or perhaps they are not corrupted, but … => 2)

2) The .mus file name extension has also been used by other programs.
Are you sure that these .mus documents were created in PrintMusic?

Hi Peter
Just to let you know I downloaded Notepad 2012 as you suggested and I am now able to open my .mus files! I' m still not sure why I couldn't open them with PrintMusic as I created the files on the same version I bought all those years ago and am still using. But who cares?!!
Thanks so much for your time and advice I really appreciate it.You've saved me hours of music inputting. Will now enjoy using Notepad.
Best wishes
Phil :D
