I am trying to save work and this error keeps coming up even though the file extension is .musx
I don't know if they're connected but I have saved my work multiple times as a .musx today, but the last modified version that shows up is from March.
I have already lost about 6 hrs of work to this problem because of having to go back to the old file.
Thanks!

BTW I just created a new score and copied the entire thing into a new file - still won't save - same error

Finale, in Preferences, has a slot to direct Finale as to where tmp files (files only used in the current session) are kept. The default is the Windows Temp folder. I create a unique folder in the Windows Temp folder. I name it for the version of Finale where I want the tmp files to be. I have a separate Finale temp folder for each versions I have: Finale 2011, Finale 2012, Finale 2014, Finale 2014.5, and Finale 25. Since the Windows Temp folder is a hidden folder, you have to first have Windows configured to allow seeing the hidden folders. If you don't want to mess with all that, just create a folder on your desktop. Then, in Finale Preferences, point to that folder in the slot for the tmp files (near the bottom of the page for folders in preferences).
I clean my temp folder often, as old tmp files might be confusing Finale. You need to do this when Finale is closed.

So, if somebody was dumb, and the temp files are deleted while Finale is open would it cause it to restart the enigma message?zuill wrote:

Would that require repeating the process again?
( My students have warped my brain and, like them, I can no longer follow instructions)
Thanks

Since Finale needs to be closed when deleting the tmp files, I avoid doing it when Finale is open. I don't think I want to try it just to see what will happen. Maybe you can do that and let us know what the result is.
As for me, I'll operate as I always have.
