I use Finale 2007 C
I am entering a piano piece. When I select the measure tool, the two 'handle' appear on the bar line. One for adjusting the width of the measure and the other handle to adjust the spacings of the notes. However on some layouts, it seems that only the main beats of the measure can be adjusted and on other layouts, all the notes in the measure can be adjusted. ( this being my preferred way). On the piece that I am entering, only the main beats can be adjusted. What setting is there to make it so that all the entered notes can be adjusted

What Music Spacing are you using?
- Note Spacing?
- Beat Spacing?

It seems that with beat spacing only the major beats are shown and with note spacing all the notes are usually shown. (which is what I want). However, note spacing, does not seem to pick up all the notes in the "left hand" part, just all the notes in the "right hand" part

My first guess would be that you are using "Automatic Music Spacing".
"Automatic Music Spacing" spaces the music during note entry, in the staff where you enter notes - regardless of notes in the other staff.

Something to try:

Disable "Automatic Music Spacing", and use "manual" Music Spacing instead.
With "manual" Music Spacing the music will only be spaced when you want it, where you want it.
- Selection Tool. Select the region you want spaced. (To select a measure, double-click it)
- Apply Note Spacing. (Tip: Learn the keyboard shortcut!)
- Update Layout. (Tip: Learn the keyboard shortcut!)
