When playing freely, it's possible to play more than 8 eight notes in a bar, on 4/4 time signature. For example, 11th eight notes in a bar. It's like a Rubato or, ad libitum way. How to write this on Finale? Regarding this things occur in the very first bar, so, hidding the time signature on the first bar will make the player a little confused. Tuplets? adding words like, freelly, rubato? What's the best way to do this?
Thanx.

If you want the time signature to show, you could either do it as tuplets with hidden brackets and numbers, or set the time signature "correctly" like 11/8, but set it to display as 4/4. In either case, some sort of text explanation would help.

In the time signature dialogue window, click the button that says OPTIONS. That will expand the window, so you can choose a different time signature for display.
This is in the full Finale, only. If you have one of the other products, you can't do it.
Please add the program and version you are using, to your signature in the control panel.

If I Recall Correctly, there is a minor difference between Windows Finale and Mac Finale regarding what this very button says:miker wrote:In the time signature dialogue window, click the button that says OPTIONS…
Windows Finale: Choices
Mac Finale: Options
