Whenever I try to add "7" to the half-diminished symbol, the result is "¿7".

And I don't find the symbol within the selection. The diminished seventh yes, but not the half-diminished (small crossed circle + 7)

Appereciate your valuable help

That does not happen to me.
Are you sure that you are trying to add "7" to the half-diminished symbol?

You would get the result "¿7" if you create the ø7 symbol from scratch, and forget to change the ¿ character's font from a text font to a music font, e. g. to Maestro 18.

I, too, do not see ø7 among the ready made suffixes in Maestro Font Default.

My guess is that you have to create the suffix yourself.
See the attached Finale 2012 document.
You can copy that measure to your own template, and the ø7 suffix will be added to the bottom of the Chord Suffix Selection.

Thank you for your answer, Peter,

1) Are you sure that you are trying to add "7" to the half-diminished symbol?

Yes I tried again ang got the same result.

2) See the attached Finale 2012 document.

Where?

3) By the way, I copied an pasted ø7 from your message into the space for the chord symbol, and what I get on the score is "a7"

Oops, sorry!
I must have forgotten to attach the document.
I have edited my previous post, and added the attachment.

1) Open my document "half-diminished.mus".

2) Selection Tool.
Select the measure (e. g. via Select All).

3) Copy the measure.

4) Close my document "half-diminished.mus", and open your own document (= your template for new documents).

5) Click somewhere in the template, to select a location.

6) Paste my measure into the template.

Now my ø7 suffix is added to the bottom of the Chord Suffix Selection.
You can delete my measure from your template.
Deleting my measure will not remove the ø7 suffix from the Chord Suffix Selection.

From now on, all new documents will have the ø7 suffix.

For documents that are already created, you will have to import the ø7 suffix into each and every document via the steps 1) – 6) above.
