rests instead of notes

Hello,
I installed finale 2012 in my new Imac.
in speedy edit, somehow I write rests instead of notes.
How to avoid that?

Take a look in the Speedy menu.
Is the option “Use MIDI Device for Input” selected or de-selected?

Ignore my previous entry...just found problem. Didn't have "use midi device for input selected." Duh. Thanks, anyway!
