I am somewhat new to notation and very new to finale. I'm hoping you folks can help me with this. Since you are new to Finale 2014, I recommend that you study the tutorials and the videos.
For note entry I especially suggest that you study the tutorial document “EntryExercises”, which discusses the Simple Entry Tool.
There are a lot of goodies in there, including instructions for tuplet entry.
