Is there a shortcut for the tie button? I can only work out a way to add them by clicking on the button. Surely there's a button that turns a tie on and off? - would save a lot of time.
Thanks.

When a note is selected (as it would be if it were just entered) tapping the T key starts the tie. Then, enter the next note. If both notes are already in, select the first one and tap the T. Or, select the second one, and SHIFT-T. To remove a tie, select the note, and again, tap T (or Shift-T.)

ah! thanks. been trying to find this for hours!
I've watched all the tutorials but I feel like I have to go back to the beginning and watch it all over again because I'm forgetting things all the time :(

Then, that's what you have to do. You are coming from a different program, and expecting Finale to work in the same way. It doesn't. Don't expect it to, and moan because it doesn't.

Take the time to learn, and give yourself experience with the basics.
