Welcome to the forum!

I think that we need a little more info from you:

1) What {Music ORC software} are you using? - SmartScore Light? - SharpEye? - or?

If I understand you correctly, the chord symbols are there as they should be, in the initial graphic file, right?

2) Are the chord symbols there when viewing the scan in your Music OCR software?

From the Music OCR software the result is exported as a MusicXML file, and that MusicXML file is imported into a Finale document.

3) Are the chord symbols there in the MusicXML file?

If I understand you correctly, the chord symbols are not in the Finale document, right?

(1) so far i have downloaded the demo version of finale 2014 (i downloaded it today).

(2) i recently scanned a lead sheeet which i have as a pdf-file. i converted this pdf-file into a tif-file in order to import it into finale. this pdf/tiff file includes the chord-symbols.

(3) there is no xml-file.

... and yes, in the finale-document i only see the melody line, but not the chord-symbols.

Finale 2014 can not do Music OCR at all.
You must be using the SmartScore X2 Lite that comes with Finale 2014.

A limitation in SmartScore X2 Lite is exactly the missing chord symbols.
For optical recognition of chord symbols you will need at least SmartScore X2 Songbook Edition.

It might be a good idea to visit Musitek’s web site:
http://www.musitek.com/store/SSFinUp.html
where you can get info about SmartScore, and get an upgraded version.
