When I Playback, on measure 1 of staff 1 sounds a trill that is not written.
I usually use the same files already worked and replace notes to do new exercices.
How coulI I know which are the hidden controls?
How could I delete them when I begin a new exercise?

I appreciate your always valuable help

Try selecting the entire score, then from the selection context menu, Clear Selected Items, and choose MIDI Data.

Thank you , miker, but it doesn't work that way.

I noticed , after trying and error, that is the Expression "T" I introduced on the staff 2 that produces the trill. I don't know why.

It doesn't happen if I introduce "D" or "S", for exampler.

So I thinh the reason a trill sounds is because Finale interprets "T" as a trill.

Thank you, anyway, for your time

1) Actually the expression ‘T’ is attached to Staff 1, not to Staff 2.

2) The culprit is not in the document itself, but rather in the program settings for Human Playback.
If Human Playback is set to, interpret ornaments, then you will hear that the ‘T’ causes playback. *)

3) If you change the font for the ‘T’ to Maestro, then you will see the “wave” symbol ~ which means Doppelschlag, Turn, Fioritura, Gruppetto or Double Cadence, depending on which language you prefer.

In the Maestro font the “wave symbol” is located in character slot #84.
Character slot #84 is in text fonts used for the uppercase T (think Turn).

I hope that this is clear?
If not, ask again.

*) What you can do on the document level, is choosing a Human Playback® Style.
You can e. g. set Human Playback to “None” - or choose a custom, user defined, playback style.

Thank you for your answer, Peter:

1) Actually the expression ‘T’ is attached to Staff 1, not to Staff 2.

I understand and I notice it now. Is there a way to attach "T" to Staff 2?

2) The culprit is not in the document itself, but rather in the program settings for Human Playback.
If Human Playback is set to, interpret ornaments, then you will hear that the ‘T’ causes playback. *)

I understand. I went to Human Playback and checked what you say.

3) If you change the font for the ‘T’ to Maestro, then you will see the “wave” symbol ~ which means Doppelschlag, Turn, Fioritura, Gruppetto or Double Cadence, depending on which language you prefer.

I understand. I did it as you say.

In the Maestro font the “wave symbol” is located in character slot #84.
Character slot #84 is in text fonts used for the uppercase T (think Turn).

I understand. I checked

Then, instead of using 'T' for Tonic, 'S' for Subdominant and 'D' for Dominant, I shoud use "TO" for Tonic, fof example, as I cannot avoid the sound of the trill.

Or is it possible to to attach "T" to Staff 2?

You can avoid that Human Playback interprets the ‘T’, e. g. by attaching the ‘T’ as a text block.

Indeed it is possible.
You have the ‘T’ in a custom expression category
This custom expression category - mías - was created by duplicating an existing category that has a Score List.
Not all categories have a Score List.

You have several options, e. g.

1) Edit the Score List so that the expression only shows on the staff you need.

2) Create a new, custom category by duplicating an existing {category that does not have a Score List}, e. g. the category
Technique Text.

I am not sure, exactly what you need, and why ?!?
Is it e. g. important that the ‘T’ is an expression ?

What are your needs reg. the automatic, default positioning of the ‘T’ ?

The better I understand, the better I can help you.

Thank you very much, Peter.

a) You can avoid that Human Playback interprets the ‘T’, e. g. by attaching the ‘T’ as a text block.

Yes, but I prefer as an Expression, because when analysing a melody is easier to write letters that appear several times.

b) exactly what you need, and why ?!?

To analyse a melody

Anyway I did it as you propose in the alternative 2) and it works perfect:

1) I duplicated Miscellaneous category and named mías2
2) I moved expressiond from mias to mias2 category
3) I deleted mias category
4) I renamed mias2 into mías

It's a good solution. Thanks a lot

Thank you, Peter,
I find this way is very complicated and I am not able to do it.
But don't worry, because the one you told me before is easy.
Maybe I should read the chapter about Metatools before in the Manual.
