... I'm new... creating a practice song with solo piano instrument... how do you play only the top treble stave (mute bottom stave)?

You would need to put the two staves on separate channels. Then, you can mute them individually. Use the Score Manager for both tasks.

Actually, it is not necessary to have the staves on different channels. They can both be on Channel 1 and only mute one of the staves.

Zuill, how do I mute one stave with piano?

In the Score Manager, in the Staff Name column, click the arrow next to Piano. Now you see both staves. Mute the one you want to mute there.
