Word extensions disappear

Hi,

I started to use Finale and I face one problem: if I want to make lyrics text bigger (lyrics window- select all- size), after that extension disappear. What do I do wrong?

Do they still stay hidden after Redraw Screen (View menu), and after "Update Smart Word Extensions and Hyphens" (Utilities menu)?

What happens if you use the plugin "Change Fonts" (under Miscellaneous plugins) to increase the size of the lyrics?

Sometimes the extensions disappear when the font is bigger because the distance to the following note after the syllable is now smaller. It probably hasn't reached the threshold needed to launch the extension. This could be resolved in different ways. One way is to give the measures more space (not so crowded).

You could use Utilities>Fit Measures to globally change the number of measures in a system, or you can move individual measures to the next or previous systems with Utilities>Move to Previous System (or Next system.) There are keyboard shortcuts for these commands, but since you are on Windows, I'm not sure what they are.

You need to select the measures, before you use these commands.

Disappearing word extensions are not necessarily a bad thing. As long as the notes are slurred, the singer will know what to. This may be preferable to too-wide spacing. In a sense, you could look upon the word extension as the anomaly when notes are too far apart.
